Sean William Scott, think about it. He's done more serious stuff recently, except Cop Out, which was alright.
No.

No.

Furthermore, No.

Addendum: No.

OT, I do like Gerard Butler alot, but I don't think I could take him seriously in a Commander Shepard role. Christian Bale... eh. Maybe. Probably not though. I'd rather see some no-name guy get it who just happens to fit the description and doesn't have a typecast yet. It's hard for me to take anyone who's been typecast seriously.

Which, by the way, is why I refuse to accept Sean William Scott.

I say that they shouldn't pick to character at all, and give up on making a movie altogether, mostly because I believe the movie will just waste the original material and dumb it down for more mainstream audiences (i.e. large explosions and sex scenes replacing Thane quoting Thomas Hobbes, or Sovereign being voiced by Hugo Weaving *shivers*). Still, I have hope that it could be entertaining. For Shepherd I kind of want them to go with a woman, it might help it break away from the standard action movie cliches. For an actress, I can't remember her real name but Sierra from Dollhouse had this really great confidence about her.

But I still have one crazy idea, hear me out: Helen Mirren. Mostly because no one would see it coming...oh wait, she's already gone badass in RED, nevermind then.

I would say Michael Gambon.

[sub] Yes,I never played the game [/sub]
If Gambon's in the role, he must crash his ship into a mass relay and then have Admiral Clarkson call him out on it.

Oh my, too much Top Gear...

Bruce Campbell, because I can
I like the way you think. "Evil Dead 4 (or whatever they're on now): Robo-Deadites in Space". We all know the husks are meant to play that angle anyway.

christian bale would just do his stupid clint eastwood voice like in batman.

I'd go for Robert Downey Jnr. but he's a bit too old now, instead I'll go for the guy from avatar. Sam Worthington?

I think that a female Commander Shepard in a movie would be ground-breaking... so it won't happen. One of those two generic handsome buffs mentioned here (Christian Bale, Gerrard Butler) would probably be a good choice for increasing sales, though.
Heck, they might even be able to deliver half the lines in a convincing manner ;)
The idea of a woman saving the galaxy is unsettling to some people your right. Something i'd personally like to see but predictably the movie will have the a male paragon shepard because nobody likes a renegade. I reckon it would be someone like Gerad Butler. Bruce Willis would have been good but he is too old now.
To be fair, the Shepard in the game looked like these guys, so it's fitting.
I would love to see it be a woman though, but if a big studio would put a female protagonist, the movie would surely focus on how 'sexy' she is first, which in my opinion dilutes the character ("saving the galaxy is hard work, so I never forget three hours of hair treatment every morning, two layers of makeup to hide all those laser scars, and a whiff of 'solar-flare' antiperspirant") so... maybe it's better to have the male version.

Now I'm thinking that someone should make a machinima of this commercial :)

They would probably get Sam Worthington for the role.
Hell yes to Sam Worthington. (He's got the right shaped head/face - and a similar build to Shepard)

As a second I'd nominate that Channing Tatum fella, not as good an actor maybe but that's just my opinion.

How about this bloke? - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Martini

No to Christian Bale - he's a good actor but he seems to play exactly the same type of guy in every film now - the brooding badass coolguy stereotype. While watching Terminator: Salvation I thought at one point he was gonna chuck on the ol' Batsuit and goto work.

Maybe the guy from Spartacus could pull it off?

Bruce willias (Cop out answer i know)
I see what you did there

Ot: they based at least the standard male shepard off some model. If he could act at all he could do it.

It depends on whether Shepard's a paragon or not. Think about it: Christian Bale would be a pretty good renegade. For paragon? Uh, actually... That dude from Avatar, Worthington or whatever his name was.

Ooh,ooh,I know.Jennifer Hale....Yes,I am saying that we should use the woman that voiced the character to play it in the live-action movie.Even if I am opposed to a Mass Effect movie centering around Commander Shepard.I am also opposed a live-action Mass Effect movie. How about we keep it animated?
