I'm from Minnesota.

and I will forever have a love/hate relationship with the movie Fargo since so many people bring that movie up as an accurate depiction of Minnesota and even my area in the Minneapolis (not those St Paul fucks :p)

but NO ONE, practically NO ONE talks like that in Minnesota unless you go up farther north. And even then its still not that exaggerated as it is in movies.

So that gets annoying- but that combined with the fact that we're in the United States already makes people in other countries to think we're fat and stupid... it's just annoying when I have some English friends that make fun of me and my friends for being Americans every now and then. I met a guy in London who didnt like me just cos I was American.
its times like that I think,
"fuck you, random English guy... at least I know how to say 'saw' correctly"
(petty argument begin!)

and its like.... people seem to forget about their own countries problems when they start talking about America.
We all have a lot of work to do- and we all have morons in our populations...

Even Sweden :p

England: everyone assumes the usual British stereotypes.
Cheshire: assume I'm from Chester (no, they're not the same bloody place), that I'm posh/rich and that I love Hollyoaks. That really winds me up because I know only one of the fabled Cheshire Neaveau Riche and he's one the most down to earth, working class gritty dudes you could ever meet.

Though I did encounter one of the Cheshire rich girls in college and I can tell you, lovely though she was, common sense was not her strong suit: She was convinced "Shameless" was a complete fantasy show, despite it being semi-autobiographical, and then insisted that nobody lived on Council Estates in real life.

Sorry,
but that is Bavaria a small country between Germany and Austria.

I hate it when people think that Germany is like this.
Amen to that. (I do like sauerkraut, weisswurst and beer, but the rest is just ridiculous. :p)

But please, as much as I'm in on the joke about Bavaria basically being a country of its own... don't throw around misinformation like that here, lest some prick starts asking questions about a German secession movement. -.-

In my state(wisconsin) it is a common stereotype that we are heavy drinkers. I support this stereotype as I fully take part in the festivities.
Forgive this, for it might be a sterotype, but weren't you on average the fattest state in America?

Or is that Texas?
No actually we are in the middle area of being fat. Milwaukee was once the fattest city but the rest of the state isn't so much. The states that hold the record for being the fattest are Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

I'm from Lawrence, Kansas (USA)

1. I hate gay people (I don't, dammit Fred Phelps!)
2. I have no utilities (I do)
3. I am constantly high on weed (some of you know what I mean) (Not constantly)
4. I have a rural accent (I don't)
5. I'm a fat idiot (I'm the skinniest and smartest person I know outside the Escapist, which is saying something)
6. I have no knowledge of world affairs (I do)

Most people over here are, however:

-Stupid
-Close-minded
-Lazy and whiney

It gets on my nerves.
That isn't a product of being American, its a product of being Human. EVERY country, EVERY nationality, etc. has those kind of people. It only gets reflected on Americans because Americans are everywhere in the media.

Hmm...so the myth that every middle-of-nowhere town in Wisconsin consists of 17 bars, 9 churches (1 with a bar in the basement), and only 2 actual houses may hold some merit?

If so, then perhaps it's time I head across the river to find out where the hell all the "corn-fed farmer's daughters" went off to that were supposed to be here in MN.

...and no, that wasn't meant as a dig. I <3 my 'Sconnies.

I live in the southern US. We're stereotyped as fat, warmongering rightwing hillbillies who have no knowledge of the world outside of their tin roofed shacks and tobacco farms.

Me: Short white and pale, buzzed hair blue eyes kinda stocky. I guess the stereotype would be...racist? I hate racism so that's simply not true.

Country: United States- Everyone thinks we love war and hate other countries, I hate war and just have never been to another country, though I think england looks like a neat place to check out

State: NY, the stereotype is there's a big city with constant gunbattles and Bruce Willas driving around central park in a taxi full of bullet holes or something. I'm not in the city or very close to it, I live on an island that branches off the state in the suburbs. There's no gunbattles but one time a car crashed near my house, gasp excitement!
Hahaha may I guess Staten Island? If not then Long Island.

OT: America and born in Staten Island (NY) moved to North Jersey shore. No we are not all guidos, no we aren't all in the mafia, and no we do not have New York or the stereotypical jersey accent.

Country: America, I think it speaks for itself (No, I'm not fat)
State: Iowa
People seem to think I must live on a farm if I'm from Iowa. I don't really understand why. I do love me some sweet corn though so I hate when people ask that. I mean, who could hate sweet corn?
