Community Hypocracy

What is some of the most hypocritic things you have seen in a game community? Not "X is fun" because that's debatable, I'm talking about real irony. Hint: Use "some people" to avoid a flame war.

Two that come to mind to me anyways...

On GunZ people who use dual shotguns and spam them as fast as possible call those who use an M4ish weapon a sprayer.

Some people claim FPS games are not repetitive, whereas MMOs are supposedly extremely repetitive.

As an in-game example, it's pretty ironic that TF2's Engineer will call out the Sniper for camping. Hypocrisy much?

Not really irony so much, but when playing an objective based FPS e.g. Demolition in CoD I regularly get abuse for "camping" when I'm defending the bomb site. What do they expect me to do? Run around with akimbo 1887's (this was pre-patch) abusing them until I force them to rage quit after being consistently killed by an AC130...oh wait.

CoD's multiplayer in a nutshell. Maybe that is ironic :/

I've found CoD's multiplayer as a whole to be ironic personally, couldn't stand it.

That is unacceptable unless you changed class first. What you should have said is MMM MMMM MMMM.

I find it funny when kids so young they have clearly not even heard of a Gamecube come out and say the Xbox 360 is the best console ever.

OOOOHH and there was the time when I got told off for protecting a point in TF2 as apparently it was n00bish to place my turret there. I destroyed it and 20 seconds later the point was lost. Why? Fucking scouts that would have been mown down in seconds by my fully upgraded turret... I do not miss TF2.

In a relevant post, I went round a corner as a pyro, saw 3 of the enemy stood there, and proceeded to burn them. After killing 2 of them, I was raged at for being a W+M1 pyro

What did they expect me to do, run away?

If any form of news media attempts to even bring up the topic of video game addictiveness, there will, without a doubt, be a thread that pops up filled with ENRAGED gamers stating that addiction to video games is either not a real thing or that it falls on the fact that the 'victim' of it has self-control issues.

Bring up World of Warcraft though? People will line up to attack it as a life draining time sinkhole. The game is completely to blame for the people who's social lives suffer while they clock hour after hour after hour, because the virtual world is a Skinner Box that manipulates people's minds.

I can't remember the exact converstation I had with somebody on this site but it turned out this community praised bioware for the same thing they hated activision for.

Agreed. There's nothing wrong with a Pyro taking advantage of the situation. If you've closed the distance, then by all means use your flamethrower as much as you like.

Now if folks just charge at a distance spraying their flamethrower around with no intention of switching to their secondary or employing airblast, that's when they're of the W+M1 variety.

Valve fanboys that laugh at other games for having DLC... Then plunking down $30 for hats.
Valve fanboys that complain that all shooters are the same, then play TF2 for thousands of hours.
Valve fanboys that complain about a lack of complexity in shooters, then play TF2 or Left 4 Dead.

TF2 is possibly the only FPS where every gun in the game can fairly be used to its full capabilities.

...and that's why I love it.

In Counter-Strike: Source, the players that call others "noobs" are almost exclusively the most inexperienced ones.

I also hate when someone with an AK insist me to go first to a possibly defended area with the bomb and an AWP, deagle or another weapon that isn't as good as his for the task.

Sounds like you were just playing with shitty people.

Yeah, I would have just gone my own way but he was threatening to kick me off the server if I didn't do as he said. Plus it was hugely gratifying to say "I told you so".
