I would reformat. It is the only way to be sure that it has been removed from the system....assuming that the virus doesn't hide in the BIOS.

I had a virus called system labs that was like this. The only thing you can do is wipe your hard drive and say good-bye to the things you've lost.

I had something similar to this as well, after attempts to fix it myself I took my computer to a shop to get it taken care of. I think that's your best option.

There's usually a reg-fix for these things, combined with MBAM should probably solve the problem. You can introduce them both via an SD card.

But WW"SHP"D?

I'd format the damn thing. Get a free scanner(I personally like AVG) and set it to auto-update. Keep MBAM or Spybot handy, and...learn from your mistakes.

This is the second time in 3 months that this virus has hit with a slight variation of name but showing the same "help centre".

Anyone else have this issue and know how to resolve it WITHOUT deleting all my stuff???
If you rightclick your computer's icons, there will be a "start" command that will work.

Look up the virus on the internet. There's always instructions on how to kill it, although you'll have to do some registry digging.

And look up less porn next time, okay?

Burn this [http://trinityhome.org/Home/index.php?wpid=1&front_id=12] onto a CD, and boot from it, run the virus scan, hopefully it'll clear your issues up.

Ah, I had a similar problem, here's what you do.

1. Try MalwareBytes, if the "AV" program is blocking you, than.
2. Find a way to stop it's process when you start your computer.
3. And use a program called http://www.combofix.org/ Combofix.
4. Ensure you are not connected to the internet, and bring Combofix over via USB stick from another computer.

Hope this helps!

Create a ubuntu live usb and boot into that, copy the files that you really wish to keep onto the same usb if it still has space or onto another external hard drive.
Then reformat and OS reinstall.

In all seriousness, I unfortunately think that reformatting is the only real option; I've had a nasty computer-busting virus before as well and it was the only solution in that instance. Granted, though, I'm not particularly tech-savvy, so I'm not the best source of information.

Go figure

I was rather sceptical when I first heard but yea, a BIOS flash would remove it but that would be the last thing come to mind.

Thing is, even if you do manage to fix it, it's likely your computer won't function the same again. Do so by all means, but only to restore your data so you can back it up. I had the same problem a couple of years back, and in all honesty reformatting was just so much easier.

I've had that in the past, and it's actually really easy to get rid of. You simply have to locate the files that make up the 'anti-virus' virus, somewhere on your hard drive, and delete each one in turn (and don't forget to empty the Recycle Bin afterwards :D). For a full step-by-step way of doing this, better than I can explain, here's a helpful article that gave me the right advice when I had the problem not so long ago. Also, after you do it, try doing a 'Full System Restore' as well, but only if the problems continue. That basically sends your PC 'back' to a saved restore point, and doesn't touch any of your files or programs, so it's like doing a reboot but without losing all your porn downloaded music legitimate files in the process :D.

Anyway, here's that link to the helpful article:

Fool me once...
?? What do you mean lol. I wasnt fooled by it, nor was I trying to install any anti-virus on my laptop as I already have a decent working one. It just suddenly popped up, probably came from these stupid emails I keep getting from my contacts, I never know if they contain virus's or actual messages so I open them >.<
