I think my main problem is that it's sort of like Half-Life 2. People hyped this show up so much about being the second coming of christ and getting all these memes about it, and when I finally experienced it, it just fell short.

I meant you were complaining something was hyped while you yourself were craving an incredibly over hyped game. Seriously start a thread on here about Skyrim, a game which is not even out yet, see how many people rave about how good it is going to be. You might not be going to every forum you know and shouting about it but others are.

I did for the same reason and it's really not bad. I just saw the pilot but I think I got a pretty good idea about the show.

Fair enough, I guess considering I excited about it as well I don't notice the hype so much.
Plus, the HL2 and MLP stuff is from people already have experienced it, not just pre-release hype, which makes the me not liking-ness of both of those more annoying.

No really. I SWEAR I posted in a thread EXACTLY like this not two or three hours ago. C'mon guys, I love ponies as much as the NEXT guy(?) but it's hard keeping track of four fucking pony threads at once.

I as well posted in a pony thread pretty much asking the same question,though for me it was for shits and giggles more than actually liking this show.

And no, we aren't forcing it on you either. How is having Pony avatars different from ZP avatars? Or Xbox Mii-thingy avatar[footnote]I don't know their actual name. But whatever Xbox's avatar system is called[/footnote], or anything else that's popular enough for people to put as their avatars?
So the image macros can sometimes be a bit overwhelming in threads. I admit, some people need to learn how to use spoiler tags, but how is posting a Pony image different from any meme image?
Maybe some people eyes just can't take the overload of friendship, rainbows and love!

The only ones spamming the forums with ponies are people like the OP: Users who can't just let us go about our business without having show to that they're "Above all this." or think it's "Gay.".

I think there's, what, one pony thread started by an actual Brony? The rest are people who are curious about the show's popularity or just want to hate on the show.

Anyone who complains about avatars can fuck right off: they're well-drawn and you have no business dictating what people use for their avatar.

Yeah he's not saying every thread is a pony thread (and neither am i) just that most thread more than 5 pages made recently will have several pony references and pictures. Not to mention half the site commited to having some seriously off putting avatars.

Seriously, don't come in here and support some horribly inaccurate claim and try to defend it. As for the "off-putting avatars" and "making certain threads lose all their charm", congratulations. You have an opinion. Other people have opinions also. These opinions are subjective. So while you feel that way, everybody else may not (in fact I'm sure alot of people do not).

I can't hate the MLP fandom and its fads. I simply can't.

Whatever they do is under the guise of friendship and love. I can't hate that.

I WILL, however, dispute anyone who thinks this is the funniest show ever. Which so far hasn't happened. No, I have no well-researched rebuttal to them either, but I simply will disagree.

But fandoms have ALL types of people. Bandwagoners, spiteful ones, counter-culturists who love the irony, trolls, and somewhere in there are what the rest of the world would call "normal" fans...You just can't tell them apart when they all come together and suddenly a few become a face for them all. I have to tell myself that whenever I click on the latest "How Mass Effect is sexist" thread and find that they're talking about who's on the cover of the game, or whenever I'm introduced to hipster music by my friends (even the ones that ARE hipsters) I have to tell myself "my friends aren't fake ass hipsters..."

That quote applies to you as well. Many posts will have pony pictures with a crudely written caption that says something stupid. At least half the treads in "Gaming Discussion" that is over 5 pages has at least 2 pony pictures in it. This pony abomination is a disease in the treads.
