I don't understand the hate for the show. No one is forcing you to watch it. The longer I live the more is see complaints against things that are not being forced upon any one. If you don't like it ignore it.

This is probably the sanest most rational post I have seen for a while. I think I said a similar thing about Zero Punctuation once.

Now, I may not be the biggest poster on this forum (I mostly just check the most recent posts and hot threads when I turn up), but the only times I've seen pony threads here is when someone is either complaining about the show, or asking why it's popular. I have rarely seen ponies being mentioned anywhere else in other threads either. In fact this is the first pony thread I've seen on here in a couple of weeks now. I almost thought people had finally stopped mentioning it, so I really don't get where the hate is coming from either.

I am compelled to agree although no series will ever replace Pokemon in my heart. It's a great show and I like it. Some people went for changing their avatar/bio/identify over the show and that's fine with me. My only beef is this sense of entitlement I sometimes feel from some of the newer users I've been round. One even sent me a warning via PM:

"You be in Pony territory now. Tread cautiously and with smiles. Celestia commands you."

Not every thread needs to be ponies. I'm a fanatical Freelancer fan but I don't go around here shouting it to the skies. The fandom will die down eventually and will shrink into a concentrated site at some point so I guess I can just wait it out. I just wish that the threads I frequent regularly weren't now brimming with Pony pictures.

When it comes to avatars I'm less concerned. I'm not bothered by them and it would be very hypocritical of me to say that they do while mine apparently gives people seizures and migraines. I get it, stop sending me PM's new users! I ain't changing for nuthing, NUTHING!

[sub]Although admittedly I did sustain a Pony explosion in one thread for my own amusement. I held on 5 pages on my own, I'm proud of myself.[/sub]

Do you people really believe that? Really? Because as far I've seen ponies have been limited to either a) pony threads (ponies in pony threads? madness, I know), b) modern cartoon threads (still on-topic) or c) random pic threads. Please come back when you actually know what the hell you're talking about, because you obviously don't if you think we've been spamming the forums with pony stuff. Take a look at every thread on the first page of Off-topics alone and you'll see why I say that.

Yeah he's not saying every thread is a pony thread (and neither am i) just that most thread more than 5 pages made recently will have several pony references and pictures. Not to mention half the site commited to having some seriously off putting avatars.

How is it ignorance to get annoyed by an over-abundance of fad culture infecting a website. By all means enjoy it yourself but its made certain threads (i'll miss you picture thread) lose all their charm.

Did you listen to me? Did you go out and check the threads? Even just the ones in Off-topic. No? Then go out and do it. Once you've done that you can come back and try to tell me that again. Seriously I just went through each and every thread on the front page of Off-topics and guess what I saw?

Ponies being spammed? Nope. Ponies used to de-rail threads? Nope. Ponies being mentioned frequently in threads where they would be off-topic? Nope. Pony pictures being posted in threads where they would be irrelevant? Nope. Ponies being even mentioned in every thread not about ponies? Nope.

Okay, so you said that ponies are everywhere in Gaming Discussion and I admit that I don't frequent that area that much. So I took your word for it. I once again checked each and every thread (and by check I mean scroll throuhg each and every page). And what did I find?

Some threads about upcoming games like Brink, L.A. Noire, and Skyrim. There was a discussion about RPG stats in video games and another one about people's PC hardware. Hell, there was even one devoted entirely to some Portal 2 jokes. Know what I didn't find? Random pony spamming. In fact I only found one instance of ponies throughout all those threads but that thread also had 3 other random image macros so it's obvious that it was totally de-railed. So either the ponies are invisible and I can't see them or you are blowing this "pony epidemic" entirely out of proportion.

So yeah, nice bullshit there. Too bad it's as flimsy as a cardboard tower in a hurricane.

I'm not saying it doesn't/didn't happen, but if it's as widespread as people claim it is then you'd think I'd have noticed it (Note, naturally I can't read every thread).
