Considering buying Vampire: The Masqurade Bloodlines

Not a fan of the setting (didn't partically like the other Vampire: Masqurade game but Bloodlines seems very different gameplay wise) but I like Troika the developer who made it from playing Arcanum. It seems to be a very good action RPG with lots of choices like Deus ex or Alpha Protocol from what I read. The only problem is that there is no demo and the computer I plan to play it on is Windows 7 which I think I read someplace has a problem playing that sort of game. The laptop I plan to play it with came out recently and uses an integrated intel graphics card but Witcher worked on it well enough on low or medium settings depending on the location (old vizmia had to put it on low but otherwise the game mostly worked fine on medium I think) and Vampire: Bloodlines seems to have low requirements compared to Witcher.

Another thing is where should I buy it? I would prefer GOG but they don't seem to have it and not sure they ever will. The two choices seem to be Steam and Direct2drive. I'm not sure which is better and let's you actually own the game or whatever. I'm also hoping it gets my mind off Witcher 2 coming out for the 360 and Deus Ex 3 coming out.

Works fine for me on windows 7, I can't say anything about your Laptops graphics card I generally don't suggest gaming on a laptop but that's your business really. Make sure you get the latest unofficial patch from The Patch Scrolls [http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php] if you really want to enjoy it. As far as Steam or D2D that's up to you, I've got mine on steam and it works fine.

Well, I don't care about playing on the highest settings or whatever. Witcher didn't' seem to make the laptop that much hotter than normal use and don't' think it will be a problem of playing Vampire: Bloodlines, a 7 years old game, on a laptop. .I mainly use this laptop to play games like Witcher that came out years ago that will probably never come out for consoles.

Make sure you get the latest patch (7. something) if you want some fixes. Most of the problems are fixable, if not all. It has a small, yet very active fan base. It's not really a pretentious game, since it is a Source Engine. If you have 4 gb or more RAM, all you have to do is run it XP compatible.

It's one of my favorite games, I am a fan of the setting though.

If you get it, play it in a dark/candlelit room with a headset, especially when you get to the seaside hotel.. :)

Also, Steam is mostly good and stable. Seriously fucking retarded currency conversion rules if you live outside the states though... *shakes fist*

It's cheaper on direct 2 drive, seven pounds to be exact (if you live in the UK).

Alrgiht, you need to grab Wesp5's patches. Compatability mode will be your friend. The game itself is amazing, play as Malkavian LAST because it will forever make every other clan boring. But definatly play Malkavian no matter what.
Get it from Steam, I got it from D2D and it was alright but Steam will allow you the normal gameplay overlay and support.

Play as the Malkavian. Seriously - their clan power is stupidly overpowered (and completely screwed, if you know the setting from tabletop) and there's a whole massive bunch of secret passages and hidden content that only they get.

about paches from patch scrolls. in the pach notes in the unoficcial pathes there are lines wich are "for Plus Edition players only", what are they referring to?

When you go to install the patch it gives you an option for basic or plus as far as patch versions go. The plus has a lot of content that got cut, while the basic is mostly just bug fixes and none of the content. So go plus is my recommendation.

GET IT. Very good game, well worth it. Just remember to get the unofficial patches and you should be away with the fairies.
