Mods? No.

Frequent updates? No.

Better controls? En Oh.

Cheaper than the PC version? Are you kidding me?

Why bother? If you don't have a PC in this day and age that can run Minecraft, you've done something wrong.

I doubt it. I am a console gamer, but Minecraft is a point and click game. It is difficult to get the speed and percision using a joystick in a game like this. I have to run it on tiny fog to play it, but I still think it would be better then a console port.

If they DID somehow make it work, I would consider it, and I would have gotten it, if I hadn't bought it already.

I've been playing minecraft on an old laptop and it barely works, I love minecraft but I always have to have the render distance on short/tiny for it to be playable, so I'm definitely getting it on console.

This. The Optimine mod gives me a little breathing room, so I can sometimes get it to run on Normal, but I still feel like I'm missing out on something, what with not being able to see the sky. Also, multiplayer is out of the question, so console play is the only practical option for me.

I only have access to a laptop I use for school. My $600 laptop can hardly run it on minimun specs, but my $300 Xbox 360 can make it sing. I'm just trying to be cost effective. However, the lack of mods will dampen my fun. Oh, well.

I'm primarily a console gamer and I also have Minecraft open in my browser right now, so yeah, I'll be getting the update once it goes Omega.

Maybe. My computer can only kind of handle it if I disconnect from the internet and turn down all the video options. Although BTW might keep me on the PC. Will see. Might get it on both. Xbox for online friendship playing and PC for Mods! Everyone wins!

I already own it for my lab top.

I would say "because mods!", but after owning it for about a year I still have absolutely no idea how to download a minecraft mod.
You download one and read the instructions.

Mostly, it consists of downloading it and pasting it in the %APPDATA%/roaming/minecraft folder.

Come 1.9 or maybe release, modding will be implemented entirely, probably with an in-client library.

Not the ripoff... the actual thing. Mojang's doing it.

I only have a laptop that has trouble running games from 2003, and Minecraft has intrigued me ever since I first heard of it.

Hell yeah I'm gettin' it, I don't even care if it's inferior to the PC version, crappier Minecraft is still Minecraft.
Plus the ability to forge out into the pixelly unknown with mah pals is too good to pass up, provided a few of them get it too.

Yep. My old pc struggles with minecraft. I got total miner in the hopes that it would be a worthy clone, but it's very limited and overall pretty bad.
I just hope for customizable control schemes, and good range sensitivity changes available.
I also hope it isn't too scaled down, but we shall see.
Looking forward to playing minecraft on my big hdtv, as it doesn't have a pc input.

Hmm.. well, if some of my Xbox buddies get it I might just do so if the controls work out okay. But elsewise I don't really have any console playing friends who would get it, or who don't already have it on PC so no point

Consoles will probably at some point get to play a heavily watered down version of Minecraft, with next to none of the charm Minecraft possesses. Which is a lot.

It almost isn't even worth the console port. Minecraft is best enjoyed on PC, and literally a PC experience. And don't use the excuse 'well, I don't have a PC" or "mine can't run it"

Buy a PC for about £60. I guarantee it will run Minecraft. As that thing basically runs on a microwave display. In fact, I think they made that display in Minecraft.
