"Console gaming is better because it just works"... still a valid argument?

That has never even been a valid argument.

PC gaming is immaculate.

End of story.

Just want to clarify a couple of things.

I'm not arguing that PC is a better gaming platform. I'm both a PC gamer and a console gamer. I simply wanted to target console elitists and get a couple of things straight about how some of their arguments are flawed seeing as these forums target PC elitists on nearly every single thread.

I also just wanted to get rid of some frustration after Modern Warfare 2 kept messing up yet again on my 360 today when I tried playing online.

There is no excuse for any sort of glitch or bug on a console title. That's the point of consoles. Standardized hardware meaning there's less programming involved in production, meaning it should run impeccably.

With PC because there's so many different brands of hardware components bugs are relatively acceptable, and of course are fixed asap.

Nobody here who is a console gamer like myself can honestly tell me they're not fed up with consoles glitching. They never used to do this. Dreamcast managed to run Quake III Arena fine online back in the dial up days, why can't 360 run MW2 lag free on broadband?

PS3 has to update about once a month to two months and it takes 5 min - 10 min depending on the system (internet connection?). Some games need a short (5 minute) install the first time you put it into the system.
Fixed that for you.
Very funny, that's not how it works on my PS3 on a wired connection even, it takes 7 minutes to download, 5 to install. This is followed by having to update the game I want to play. It took me an hour to update stardust HD, a freaking hour.

I don't hate PS3 but the updates are absurd, 360 and PC takes 5 seconds to update, PS3 takes a while and that's one of the problems I have with it. If it's for some reason faster for you then I'm glad for you, I have it wired on fios so that tells me a lot. That being said, the PS3 is a fantastic system that like other systems that have things to work out

I don't think it's really valid.

It all comes down to if you like to have a controller in hand or a keyboard
That's quite true. Also, generally, consoles are more powerful systems, but there are gaming PCs that have download times of mere seconds. (usually custom made)
Huh? Download time isn't a measure of power, it's a measure of internet speed. I'm pretty sure gaming PCs are the more powerful systems objectively. Unless you want to include the millions of crappy office PCs that should only really be used for work.

I've always felt that console gaming is better, this is just because I like having a controller as opposed to a keyboard. For me that just feels more natural.

So you're against discussing video game based subject matters huh?

Hmm... why did you join a gaming forum?
I'm against arbitrary, pointless arguements. My household has all platforms except the Wii(lol), and I personally own the
ps3 and top of the line gaming pc. All platforms have their pros and cons, it's personal preference, and arguing that pcs are better than consoles or vise versa is moot.

Ah misinterpretation. So common on gaming forums.

This isn't a PC versus console thread. Read some posts of mine and any other posters (aside from the retards) rather than jumping to conclusions. I would reiterate but I can't be bothered. XD

Installing the game, installing patches, etc. on a console is no easier than it is on a PC. Buy a PC if you want something a bit more personal and useful.

Console gamers tend to be broke/lazy fucks (like me). We want the PC, but would never admit it. And likely could not afford it.

Since when do consoles have to install games?

PC gaming = better turning, devealoper consoles

Console gaming = faster loading times, rarely lags, no game installation

Pick your poison, or both!
There are probably other factors but I haven't learned of them yet.

Most Playstation 3 games require install, most aren't as long as PC installs, except for maybe Metal Gear Solid 4.

PC gaming and Console gaming is still gaming, Neither one is better, they are equal.

I myself have a PC, X-BOX 360, and a PS3. I like all of them. To me none are superior.

No, that saying is not valid because it does not explain anything.

It would be like a politician saying that being conservative is better because it just works. There is no way to really understand a statement like that.
