So, the other night I watched a film called Constantine, the one starring Keanu Reeves? And after watching it, I didn't know what to think. I didn't know if I like it, or hated it, or it left me saying WTF?! I suppose the story was good and stuff, but I want to know, did it offend any Christians? Did you like it? Or are you sitting there saying whats Constantine? Wasn't he a Pope or summat? Go Escapist goers!

Yeah, I know, this'll probaby get locked.

After credits ending to Constantine: Shia LaBeouff turns into an angel.

That movie deserves to burn in hell for that kind of symbolism. Burn right beside Shia.

Constantine was the name of the first christian emperor of the Roman Empire and the founder of Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul), the Roman capital in the east. It is also the name of a popular comic book character who was not well represented in the film by Keanu.

I recall going to see it in the cinema when it was out and at leats fairly enjoying it. I haven't read any of the source material however so who knows if I would have enjoyed the same if I had....

I hated that the changed the pronunciation of his name from constan-teen to constan-tine, I strange when it comes to things like that though.

Anyway I didn't like it I prefer the comics they are way better.

Oh yeah, Labeouffski was in that movie.

Now I remember why I hated it.

I thought it was ok. It wasn't awful, but it had nothing to do with the comics, which are awesome.

Honestly.. I remember wanting to like that film. Then he had to pull out that gold cross-shaped shotgun.. I pretty much gave up then.

I'm Christian and I liked it. It was pretty good, though the last two times I changed the channel to it, it showed the scene that looked like Satan squeezing black tar out of Keanu Reeves' nipples.

can I fire up the obligatory, "it's Istanbul not Constantinople" in response to this post?

(I mean, even old new York was once new amserdam... Why'd they change it? I can't say. People just liked it better that way...)

Ugh, Keanu Reeves... When they announced that he was playing Spike in the live action Cowboy Bebop, my face exploded, then imploded, then exploded again.

It was OK.
Interesting (enough) story, fun action, steeped in Catholic lore. It was a 'fun' movie.

I don't get why people are to militant about Shia LaBeouff, though.
Now Ben Affleck...there is someone to be militant about.

I think that was him pulling out the lung tumors out of his lungs so that he'll live and not go to Heaven. Cuz he had Lung Cancer 'n' stuff.

That bastard nearly ruined Dogma, one of Kevin Smith's best movies, for me.

Anywho: Saw it, didn't like most of it, liked the portrayal of the Devil at least.

really? What ruined it for me was that main woman, what's her face?

Even Kevin Smith regretted casting her as the lead role because she was such a *****.
