Disregarding the dodgy theology, Constantine was a film that could have been good, and indeed, had all the right elements present in the film already - but they messed it all up. For every bit that works there's a handful more that fall flat, the plot was confusing, the characters were a bit hard to care about, and a lot of it didn't really make much sense.

I liked it as a movie. But then again, being a devout believer in nothing, especially religion, I found that I could watch the movie and appreciate it as that, a movie, without it being constrained to the accuracies of religion and others beliefs (after all, where would the entertainment in THAT be?).

Not the best movie ever, but not bad in narrative and structural content. ^^

I've read a couple of collections of Hellblazer and really liked it. So when I saw the film, well I wasn't very receptive to the badass English guy (who hates guns), suddenly being Keanu Reeves with a cross shaped shotgun. Did not like that film.

I liked it. I didn't have high expectations but I thought the idea and the way they layered heaven/hell as being just different layers of earth reflected was really neat.
Granted nothing like the comics but I still thought their take on it was good. Plus Rachel Weisz is awesome.

Now Ben Affleck...there is someone to be militant about.
That bastard nearly ruined Dogma, one of Kevin Smith's best movies, for me.
really? What ruined it for me was that main woman, what's her face?

Even Kevin Smith regretted casting her as the lead role because she was such a *****.
Hey, at least she was nearly always in the presence of Jay, Silent Bob, Chris Rock and Alan Rickman, those guys are all so amazing they make up for it. All Affleck had was Damon, and he's not a major improvement.

I personally like Matt Damon a bit. Not a lot to where I'll watch a movie of his normally, but he's not bad. But that woman (still can't remember her name) was just terrible.

Not even Kevin Smith, Jason Mews, Chris Rock and Alan Rickman could save her.

After credits ending to Constantine: Shia LaBeouff turns into an angel.

That movie deserves to burn in hell for that kind of symbolism. Burn right beside Shia.
Have you seen Starship Troopers 3? If that kind of symbolism annoys you... DON'T!

OT: I liked the devil, & the fact Constantine called him Lou... that is all I liked about the film, nothing else!

Ugh, Keanu Reeves... When they announced that he was playing Spike in the live action Cowboy Bebop, my face exploded, then imploded, then exploded again.
WHAT? I can't decide if i'm horrified or excited at a live action Cowboy Bebop...
Keanu = Spike though.... erm!?!?!

EDIT: Damnit I should have just edited the previous message

Steve Blum, the guy who does the VO of Spike in the anime, has the smoothest, most silky voice ever. And then there's Keanu Reeves... who sounds like a depressed rock.

I watched a few minutes of it, then got bored and started watching Pan's Labrynth. Still, from what I saw, it looked decent, so good thing I recorded it.

OK, I didn't read all the comments so this was probably covered but: A) Constantine the movie is based off the comic series Hellraiser, which stars our friend John Constantine (the guy Reeves plays). He deals with Heaven and Hell and all its fun problems and angels and demons and stuff. It's pretty awesome.B) The real Constantine was the first Christian Roman Emperor. He has no impact on the Constantine of the movies or comics other than name. And the fact that Comic Constantine deals with the Christian system.

However, he does deal with other supernatural stuff (I haven't read much Hellraiser) on occasion, and even appeared in an issue of Sandman as his friend had Dream's sand. So yeah, Constantine of movie and comic =/= real Constantine. And I thought the movie was great, but then I haven't read a lot of Hellraiser so I can say nothing for faithfulness to the source. Reeves actually wasn't bad in this movie from what I remember, as Constantine is supposed to be an emotionless snarker. Oh, and the way he loses his lung cancer in the movie is pretty awesome (as was the devil) but different from the comics. Ok, ranted enough.

Or the Van Helsing movie.
If there ever was a greater, most disrespectful re-imagining of the story of Dracula, please, drive a stake through my heart.
OH WAIT JUST A SECOND

Edit: Boy, that was fail
