I remember liking it. I haven't seen in in a long while though, so I can't remember exactly what I liked about it >.>

oh come on, its hardly the most "offensive" movie out there, its a mix between religious beliefs and mithology, wich ends up as just "fiction"

but hell, if someone made a movie about Jesus shooting demons, that would offend people

and it would be awesome

haha

I actually kind of enjoyed it. They completely screwed up the christian theology, but it made for a decent movie.

Ok, I saw Constantine, having never read the Hellraiser comics, so with no expectations, either good or negative.
And I quite liked it.
Obviously the religious stuff was never going to go down well with some people, but I thought it was an interesting take on the whole "Angels and Demons" theme.

Now that I know the comic John Constantine was English, I'm a little disappointed that he was American in the film.

Oh, and usually I like Shia Labouf, but in this, he irritated me so much I cheered when he died.

It had an interesting back story but it was kinda weird sometimes...
Also Tilda Swinton's role as a hermaphrodite angel was quite impressive.

Actually, Branovices is right to say Constantine founded Constantinople, because he did call it that at the time. That someone else later named it Istanbul has nothing to do with emperor Constantine.

And on the subject of the renaming of New Amsterdam to New York; I think it went like this:

The Dutch founded New Amsterdam (hence the name and all) and they pretty much ruled the seas with the East India Company and West India Company, But at some point in time, the English took over 1st place from the Dutch and pressured them into some sort of territory trade: New Amsterdam for Suriname.

As for the movie Constantine: I know nothing of the source material, but I found the movie entertaining enough. By no means a candidate for the Hall of Fame, but I didn't feel I wanted those 2 hours of my life back.

I don't like Keanu Reeves much, but I would watch Rachel Weisz read a phone book. And Peter Stormare as Lucifer was worth the price of admission.

I kinda enjoyed the movie - its fun to watch. Mind you I'm an atheist and have never read the comics, so I'm not sure how it stacks up to "the fanbase".

Really didn't like Shia though, he really really annoys me and I'm not entirely sure why. It's just the voice and the face and the bad acting I guess. That's why I only "kinda" like the movie, it'd be awesome if it wasn't for him.

Reeves wasn't too bad, I thought it worked well (and the shotgun was awesome despite being cheesey). But again, I had no idea he was supposed to be an English bloke.

I enjoyed it, one of Keanu Reeves better films. It's kind of odd though, he is a terrible actor, but he is always in the most amazing movies. I have to give credit to his agent.

No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no and no. I boycotted that movie. I adore the comics, and that piece of butchery had absolutely nothing to do with them.

I also think keanu was a bad choice for this role. I did enjoy the movie though. WTF was the lead singer of... of.... some crappy band doing there anyway?

Ok, there's a lot of nonsense going on in this thread, I'll put in my two cents.

Constantine is an enjoyable dark fantasy movie with religious themes that would only really bother the most lemon-scented of Christians. It's decent, has some good action scenes and nice one-liners, and it's the most tolerable that kid that ruined Transformers has ever been.

That said, it's based on one of my favorite comic stories of all time: Hellblazer: Dangerous Habits written by Garth Ennis. It's a much more simple story than the movie's involving only Constantine dying of lung cancer and trying to avoid going to hell for all the evil he's done. It's emotional, provocative, and utterly ingenious. It's a must for any Urban Fantasy fan.

Don't get me started. It basically takes a good comic-license and then takes a huge dump all over it. Those who have read the comic understand why Shia LaBeouf playing Chas constitutes one of the worst casting-decisions in the history of movies. To those who haven't read it:
Constantine is to Hellblazer what Hannibal Rising is to Silence of the Lambs.

After credits ending to Constantine: Shia LaBeouff turns into an angel.

That movie deserves to burn in hell for that kind of symbolism. Burn right beside Shia.
Actually the symbolism was different. People can not turn into angels, who are the guardians. Shia LaBeouff wasn't turned, he was already one. Basically what the ending said was that God was helping
out since the beginning.
