So I have now been looking for some games that are just filled with content, stuff like maps, enemy variety and weapons.

Here are some games that I know of:

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Binding of Isaac
Dark Souls
Earth Defence Force: Armaggedon (sort of, the enemies and weapons do tend to repeat a lot)
Serious Sam
Magicka (the amount of things you can do is very suprising)

Basicly the idea is that there is always something new around the corner, there are games like Skyrim that while that is also true the game itself never really changes the playstyle, you use one sword and you used them all (same with enemies).

I also accept mods and addons.

Disgaea D2!

There are endless levels and challenges, and you can spend ages diving into your items to power them up. You can also spend plenty of time using reincarnations to reset characters back a much stronger level one. Honestly, in every Disgaea the completion of the main story only signifies the beginning of the real challenges.

Of course, this all hinges on your opinion of tactics-style games.

Bethesda RPGs: huge maps, tons of weapon variety and, quest variety to a point. There is a bit of monster/enemy variation too. Flaws though, include a big lack of immersion caused by a ton of loading screens...I just read the first post so I'll say Fallout: New Vegas because at least with that you have different types of ammo...yeah...

Just Cause 2: HUGE freaking map and lots of cool things to blow up. Weapons and enemy types are a bit streamlined but there are a ton of vehicles you can use and like I said: blow up.

I'm drawing a blank now at the moment...Crackdown is huge but at its core, you're just throwing people off of buildings or, sniping people by throwing trucks at them.

The Tales of series has tons of sidequests and items, in addition to a long game.

Okami also has tons of secrets to find and sidequests to do and things to 100%.

Pokemon to for having so many pokemon to collect.

Most Zelda games have loads of side quests, secrets, collectibles, puzzles, a large variety of enemies and mini games.

Pokemon, not only for catching them all, but being able to handcraft your team to any specification you like. Especially in later games where more are available to use. Along with lots of side quests and things to do in each game.

Collecting everything in Metroid games is very satisfying, along with a wide variety of enemies and puzzles in the Prime Trilogy.

The Tales series.

One game is probably more than 70 hours - they're full of side-quests, extra tid-bits, ect.

Just don't get any physical copies - the prices are insanely high.

Then there's Okami, which is like Zelda, with a bigger emphasis on side-quests, puzzles, and with heavy RPG-elements (enemies give money, money buys food, animals eat food, you get XP) mixed in. You'll spend a lot of time with this, if you decide to pick it up.

I've been playing Baldur's Gate 2 for over twelve years now since it was released, and despite numerous playthrough I still haven't seen everything the game has to offer. Then when you also consider the volume of amazing player made mods out there for the game as well the value is just insane. This is an rpg like no other!

Although speaking of great value rpg, I can think of two others that come close if for different reasons. Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 just have so many fantastic fan campaign out there for them that you're unlikely to ever play them all even if you tried. We're talking dozens of quality campaigns available for each, some of which are better in terms of story and quality than some full release games. Great value from the NWN series, I highly recommend both games to every fan of the genre.

The Disgaea games (played the first two) can be as long as you want them to be. The Item World alone inside every. single. item. stretches through 100 levels of randomly generated content.

For a moment there I thought you were saying you'd spent 18000+ hours playing it........which would be two years playing, not including sleep or eating. That would be a lot of content ;)

I find your question worded oddly. Isn't every game literally full of content, everything in there is content, it's more that games are of different sizes. If I had a two litre bottle and a 1 litre bottle, both full to the brim with coke, would you say that the two litre bottle is more full than the other, or would you say that it's just bigger?

Uh. . . I'll go now.

Question, is that game as big of a pain in the ass to Platinum as the fourth was? I love Disgaea, but I also love Platinum trophies. It disappoints me that I won't ever be able to get a Plat in D4 as I don't have the 1000 hours it takes -_-
I honestly couldn't tell you. Sorry.

I've never been big into trophies, your best bet may be to look it up. One would hope that there isn't a trophy for killing Baal x9.

X3: Albion Prelude

Now 37 hours in and I've just got my 10th Universal Trader on the go and just set up my first Factory. Meanwhile, i'm working on a small combat fleet of an M7 Light Carrier and some M6 Corvettes and a few TM's with Heavy Fighter's in the launch bays to push out some pirates who are setting up in a system

Meanwhile a few of the major races are conducting a war against the Terrans and the Xenon and i still haven't explored a third of the games universe or moved in to capital ship combat or forming my own empire space or setting up ship production facilities.

Best of all this is from one of the games starts (Humble Merchant), simply picking to start as a Terran instead can change the way the game plays completely. Oh a word of advice though, i spent a good day watching various videos and reading guides etc just to get my feet on the ground and learn the basics of setting up trade routes etc before even touching the game (i consider it bonus Content :p) so it's not an easy game to get in to

Other mentions go to Freelancer, Starwolves, Eve: Online (Basically Space Games, your games content are all constrained by a world, mine by the universe)

Just what I was going to say. Really, this game has a lot of content.

The only modern games that have this much content and true enemy variety are JRPGs or MMOs, but those are all about character stats rather than player skills, like Symphony Of The Night is, you can beat the game (on the first castle) in under an hour if you want, no need to the most awesome equipment or grinding up levels.

Modern games usually have like 4 or 5 different enemies and that's it. Pretty boring if you ask me.

Hmmm, I recently bought Castlevania: Harmony of Despair on XBLA and was somewhat disappointed with the content, I mean, it had a lot of it (somewhere) but right from the start I had gotten this strong ass lance that basicly smashed everything, so basicly I ended the game with only using about 3 or 4 weapons since the level scaling made the others completely useless. The enemies (even though varied) were all dealt in the same way because of that making them all loose whatever unique features they had (I just had to get close and hit them a few times, no need to worry about using different strategies for different enemies).

In that regard Symphony of The Night is probably more well balanced, I'll have to take a look.

Not really. Once you get to the second castle make a beeline for a sword called Crisegrim and the rest is easy cake walk town.
