For me it pretty much boils down to:
Mouse & Keyboard for anything that requires precision (FPS, strategy games .e.t.c.)

Console Controller for games that require fluidity in movement (3rd person action/platformers, Racing games e.t.c)

RTS games and MMOs are, what I feel, the best usage of the keyboard and mouse.

For me, everything else feels better on console.
I tend to disagree about MMOs. I find that navigating online worlds is easier with a gamepad. I mean obviously I need to chat on Keyboard, and the keyboard is needed for macros and hot keys, but it just feels more natural using the Gamepad for movement.

Unless you mean FPS online games. Thats a different story. (And I already mentioned how I like that done).

PC,

The only console games I have a good exclusives or racing games and a few other titles here and there that have pathetic PC ports.

I think if you like the gamepad or mouse is just preference. When playing competitively on a console everyone has the same disadvantages on the gamepad. Where on PC I get left behind those people that have those crazy logitech or razer mice and mousepads. A lot people I talk to online has somesort of variant of their equipment. :(

Anybody who thinks they are a master at console shooter controls, play Combat Arms for 5 minutes. You'll adapt, but you will realize why 3D shooters are easier on a PC.
Combat Arms is hard as hell regardless. And the whole "buying guns but only keeping them for a few days" thing was probably why I don't play it anymore.
I don't play much any more, but I remember it being easy as hell. I usually suck at FPSs on any format, but I would go double kills to deaths on most games of Combat Arms...

Anyway, I generally prefer console controls for most things now. Even in FPSs, I think the mouse takes away the advantage of flanking and any thought behind attacks, as people can turn and aim without effort. Although I'd hate to play management heavy games like Neverwinter Nights on a gamepad xD.

I prefer PC for everything, with the sole exception of fighting games. Though, most game controllers can be plugged into the PC just fine, so its a bit of a moot point.

FPS PC all they way. RTS PC all the way except for Halo Wars

So I prefer PC the most.

Depends on the genre, and particular game style.

2-D platformer, puzzle, RPG, and RTS tend to work better with a mouse and keyboard.

3-D platformer, fighting, racing, and sports tend to work better with a controller.

It really depends on the game, but 90% of the time, I prefer PC controls.

That is, of course, assuming you mean "gamepad and keyboard," which can both work with consoles and PC as well, and I -do- plug in a gamepad when I play warriors orochi.

I've never played any game on the PC other than tetris (I don't even know if that counts as a PC game), and I can barely manage that. That's right, I cannot even control 4 keys (Z,left arrow, right arrow, down arrow, in case you were wondering).

I just want to say, I got a few console RTS games recently, and I think I can now say that Console controls are better for every type of game. I much prefer using paint to select my units over unnaturally clicking and dragging. My biggest problem with PC controls though is that I feel like I'm playing an adventure game whenever I'm playing an FPS.

PC unless it's a platform (y'know the type) or sports yy title. Even racing games are better on PC (assuming you have a wheel, which is what I use on console titles as well, so really I guess it's the same except with the option of modding controls).

Personally, I'm better with PC controls 100% of the time, but that's only because I have been gaming on a PC ever since I started gaming, and have only had very brief stints with consoles. I can see why some people are saying that certain types of games are better with console controls, and I can see that if I were to get used to console controls, I'd probably find them better for certain games as well.

The only games PCs are good for are RTS games. Consoles are better for everything else.

I like PC controls because they work best for the genres I love.

RPG, RTS, Flight Sim and occasional FPS.

All the shortcuts and hotkeys that you can bind for the first two genres is the main advantage I have. Also being able to smash your hand down on F5 for a qucksave and then F12 for a reload ten seconds later is also good. I also think that the mouse allows for smoother control, the primary thing I'm looking for in an FPS, I've played console games and I could never get used to using those joysticks. Main advantage for a flight sim is a hot joystick. Yeah there's the Ace Edge for the X360 and specifically Ace Combat 6 (which nearly drove me to buy one of the crash prone beasts) but I soothed my desires with liberal helpings of Hawx.
