Controversial games that actually DESERVED the controversy?

Games are no strangers to controversy, that's for damn sure. Whether it's the same old 'oh the games are corrupting our youth to be violent' whenever Marcus Fenix has some fun with his chainsaw, or of course the 'it's so obsessed by SEX' whenever Ivy goes into battle wearing what looks like a watered down Domintrix uniform controversy is everywhere you look. Most of the time however the controversy is extremely uncalled for... like when Jack Thompson told Bill Gates that Halo 3 was 'too violent' or of course the Mass Effect sex scene (something I am never, ever going let the media forget about as I have never seen such a misinterpertation in my life) most games are just victims of unfair imaging.
However dusting off the sands of time and looking into the past we can see that every so often we come across games that deserve nothing less than to regarded with controversy. Most of these games are obscure and I only ever found out about them by way of the interweb, others are just really old like Custer's Revenge for instance.
For me though a personal choice for this thread goes to a game with a title I forgot that was about the Columbine shootings, a sort of RGP kind of thing. Naturally this was deemed offensive due to the nature it set out and the extreme insensitivity that derives from it.

However that's just my example from the past or from an obscure source. Can anyone else here think of a game from the past, obscure source, or even a recent release that was controversial and that the controversy was well and truly justified?

Doom and Wolfenstien 3D was the poster children for controversy in the beginning.
Seriously? Doom? Just becuse there is a pentagram here and there?
Wolfenstien... yeah sure it included swaztikas and stuff, And Hitler was the end boss.
But Doom? comon...

And the Mass Effect controversies where totally stupid. Most of them only heard about it and started complaining without actually ever seen the scene.

Somebody needs to stuff Jack Thompson into a sack, cover it in gasoline and light a match. And then throw the sack off a cliff.

....I'll get the matches.

Pico's School the one you are thinking about? That was a flash game about the Columbine Shootings.

That Rapelay game is the only one I have heard of that I think deserved it.

Pico's school was a game about a demon girl murdering everyone in the school but Pico and then Pico finding an assault rifle in the janitors closet and using it to kill a cyber ninja, some punk kid and then her, wasn't it?

Ah... I think the game this guy is talking about is Super Columbine Massacre.
I am definitely thinking about Pico's School, and Vrex said it was the game *shrugs*.

No games have been controversial in my book so far. Not even the rape game, so that may just be me. I just think people are too damn sensitive, and start crying about stuff too fast.

Not to be a killjoy but it's probably better NOT to fantasize about Jack Thompson's untimely demise. You're only validating him!
On topic, however, I guess I'll take the easy route and jump in with Manhunt.

But Jack Thompson will not be there to say it was video games, the media will be lost beyond the blame stage.

Id prefer to make Jack Thompson play violent videogames for days on end.
Kinda like the treatment in A Clockwork Orange.

Then as he goes into the streets see if he kills people out of sheer belief that thats what he MUST do if hes played that many violent games.

After ive had my experiment you can do the sack thing.
