Ever-so-slightly off-topic, but somebody needs to stuff Jack Thompson into a sack, cover it in gasoline and light a match. And then throw the sack off a cliff.
But... the water would put out the fire and the jagged rocks at the bottom may tear open the sack allowing him to swim free and return to the sea from whence he came.

Thats far too gentle. You need to castrate him first using a lawnmower.

....I'll get the matches.

But then the media will immediatly blame our actions on video games
No, only the conservative media will (*Looks at Lou Dobbs and Fox in general).
Maybe we can get it to circle back to Jack Thompson, he caused his own death... it was more of a flaming sack suicide. :D

Maybe the Manhunt games. People often accuse games of being 'murder simulators' but in this case it is actually true. I think it is the fact that the entire game is built around this concept that makes it so controversial. Then again I guess you could call it art in a twisted sort of way.

On the subject of Gears of War, I didn't find the Chainsawing and exploding heads to be to bad. It wasn't like you were chainsawing every single enemy in the game. However, what for me went 'too far' in terms of blood and such was a certain level in Gears 2. People wwho have played it know what I mean. It just seemed very excessive to me, but that's my own opinion.

We'll have someone standing in a boat near the bottom with a machine gun then. Just to make sure.

Id prefer to make Jack Thompson play violent videogames for days on end.
Kinda like the treatment in A Clockwork Orange.

Then as he goes into the streets see if he kills people out of sheer belief that thats what he MUST do if hes played that many violent games.

After ive had my experiment you can do the sack thing.
this sounds like a brilliant idea

But then there's a chance the cliff might end up being over the sea, so the fire would go out.
He'd run out of oxygen sooner or later though, being stuck in a sack.
But wouldn't the sack burn up in the fire? Which would let him escape?

So long as you don't go off like you did in "Yahzee", why don't we call our circle, the Circle of Thorns?
I got probation for that. :(
Well, using CAPS anyway.

Wait, if I do go off like in "Yahtzee" you are just going to get arrested for his murder? Well, okay.

Also, I think "Manhunt"... but mainly because I didnt really like the game. It was gore for the sake of it, like SAW films... but they both have a right to be made apparently, so you cant ban one without banning the other... well, you can but you shouldnt.

If he did escape, then he'd eventually drown, or hopefully get eaten by a shark.
Oh, you have sharks! That solves it.
...are you going to film it? 'Couse I'd like to see it. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over a...

Can anyone else here think of a game from the past, obscure source, or even a recent release that was controversial and that the controversy was well and truly justified?

I don't know really, I wish something came to mind.
Most people play games to get some steam off so we don't go into a frenzy poking the boss man with the pointy end of a stick. I would personally never play something like rape games as mentioned above and I would frown opon anyone doing so. But I suppose whatecer floats your boat...
