Rated E doesn't mean it's a kids game, it means that it would be appropriate for children

Also, why are they convinced the game is Educational?
I think it's educational, it improves lateral problem solving, the answers aren't clear choices, you must understand exactly how the rules work, and make the rules work for you.

Thats Very True, I just don't think it should be classified as an 'Educational Game' thats makes it sound boring and uninteresting, far from the truth

"I don't know what to tell her."

How about...IT'S A JOKE! How about Shit happens deal with it. Or their not saying it to you. It's a game it's not meant to be taken seriously.

But no...you gotta go and butt hurt. is your daughter tramuatized? No, did she cry? No, did she feel worthless as a human being. no....it seems it bothered you more then your daughter. Maybe YOUR the one with the problem.

I am so sick and tired of overly senstive people flipping their switch at everything. No i'm not one of those people who laugh at 'PC' ideals. I get it it's so people won't be rude. But it's a game it's a joke. It's not meant to be taken seriously. It's directed to the CHARACTER not the PLAYER. so...shut up.

Edit: Watched to the end. Yeah she looks really shook up with with PLAYING THE GAME MORE!! And those anchors those goddamn self righteous anchors. *garbs them by the collar and looks them right in the eye.* Listen...you, yes yes you. Are not always right, what you say isn't always important. So get down of your cross use the wood to build a bridge AND GET OVER IT!

This is why we can't have nice things.

EDIT: This video is literally giving me AIDS over the internet. I hate reporters so much.
Pretty much, when we have something nice, someone defiles it.

I think it's funny that they all missed the adoption quote in the first game.
Granted it wasn't quite so insensitive but still.
Also, this game is not "for children" neither has it ever been "sold as an educational product"

I love how news teams always make stuff up to make things sound worse than they are, and only end up looking stupid.
Yeah, this is not a kids game at all. Its pretty adult, because if I played this when I was 10, I woundn't get very far.

How did someone this retarded actually get that far in Portal?

'Passing the buck onto somebody else'..? No, not really, Sony didn't develop the game, they had no input on the script.. News stories like this are just... -___-
Even so, I bet Valve have returned their call. Gabe Newell, reads every e-mail he gets. And he gets 10000 at least when a valve game releases. Valve take shit like this very seriously, even when it doesn't get deserved to be taken seriously.

A few things:

1. The father says this is the worst thing that could have happened to an adoptive parent (notice how he says parent, making it clear that HE was offended, not her). Really? A JOKE is the worst thing that could have happened? So that's better then if she, say, got killed somehow? I know that's obviously much worse, but seriously, he acts like one little thing will make the sky fall.

2. The reporters talking sounded stupid. I mean, with such quotes as "He was shocked and really surprised!" I don't think I really need to clarify that much. >_<

3. I don't remember the game ever being said to be educational. Rated E does not mean the same as having educational values, it just means anyone is allowed to play it. Plus, if I remember, this is E10+. By that age, I'd think the child would be mature enough to handle a tiny line in a video game.

4. I do understand how this could make her feel bad. It is an insult, and as a FPS, she was likely projecting herself onto the character, which could make the line 'fatty-fatty-no parents' make her feel bad. But then I think she'd realize it's just a game anyways and it meant nothing. Of course this stops mattering once you realize she said she didn't even hear the line. I'm sure all this attention is really helping the entire issue. Thanks unnamed father for throwing your daughter in the spotlight for being adopted when you were the only one offended.
I have to fully agree with the reporter mocking us, I guarentee their are 10000000000's of well justified replies they recieved. I even bet there fake. Do you remember games when you were 10 and the villian mocked you? That is nothing compared to Wheatley.

Things like that are featured in every f%@#@%@ing movie.
But only when something is in a video game everybody acts like it's something to whine about.
Double standards..
Because if they pull this paperthin shit on a film, lawyers on them, BAM. We really need to stand up for our medium better.

I'm just gonna quote myself from the when it was a news story here:

I dont think thats the worst thing you could have heard. If Valve was really out to hurt orpahns (or lets just say this family in particular) they could have had a racial slur for chinese instead of calling you a fatty orphan.

.... Not that I think Valve is trying to do that.

Anyway, yeah. Id ont know, I think its dumb to be mad about this, but then again, thats just me (I wasnt adopted, but thats not really why I think this is dumb). I'm pretty sure when your daughter's ten, doesnt look anything like you, and isnt blind, there isnt alot to talk about.

Not that there's anything wrong iwth adopting.

"When life hands you lemons... demand to see life's manager."

The real topic here is that a white couple with a chinese child have never had this situation arise. That kid must go to the nicest school ever to not have one kid bring that to her attention.
