My dad is a kick-ass psychiatrist. He was also once asked to show ID for buying alcohol at the age of 36.

Nahh. My parents are in their 50's, fairly boring, and still think I'm 10 years old.

My mum used to teach princesses in Brunai, she is now banned from every school i go to as she abuses teacher and my dad completely screewed a company he was working for by getting a better house and car then his boss, living with my mum in 5 star hotels for a year and accidently burning down a house- all expenses were paid by the company. He also secretly recorded a conversation with my headmaster to see if he could get the asshole fired - with a recorder hidden in his sock XD, He also survived a terminal illness for 11 years, when it usually kills you in two which gained him my constant admiration. Oh- and my nan confronts and scare chavs and has stopped a train leaving when it had already started. which is damn difficult.

Huh..
Well, they both lived through some Communist times, but so did most of Eastern Europe, so that's nothing special.
My Dad brought home salvia [mild hallucinogen] once, and he's completely okay with weed. Not that I smoke it more than once or twice a year.

My dad once travelled through Africa from north to south, in the span of a year. He got briefly incarcerated and questioned in Congo, and drove through the frickin Sahara IN A VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE.

So, my mom is a *****, but my dad was a beast.

He wouldn't drink or do any crazy shit like that and highly disapproved of doing that. But he would do fun shit like play video games and other things like that. He also spoiled me rotten, but we had a tendency to play mean tricks on each other...

My Mum's seen Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and The Who in concert, and also met Freddy Mercury in Harrods, but now she thinks that almost every modern rock/indie song is just noise. She also used to work for Robert Maxwell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Maxwell), and he lent his car to my Mum and Dad for their wedding.

Nothing else overly interesting, except for they said they were both quite proud of me when I got drunk for the first time, which was when I was a year underage and in a pub. And pretty wasted.

my dad doesn't tell my mom that I play M-rated games. (Note: my mother is one of those fundimentalist Christians who hate violence in any form, real or virtual.) What this basically means is that dad allows me to play the cool games (although my all time favorite game series is rated T...Tomb Raider, in case anyone's interested)

My parents are boring ol' doctors/surgeons. Not much to say. Being legally dead sounds fun though.

My dad is a gamer. Not just video: board, card, everything. He introduced me and my brother to games and there has been no turning back. He'll also get high with me, give awesome tarot readings and have intelligent conversations. He tells funny stories. He plays guitar and bass. He's very cool.

Well, coolness comes with some drawbacks. My dad is cool, but he's the flakiest burnout you ever met, and he lives in a dingy apartment over a metal shop that he refuses to clean. He spent much of my early childhood in and out of jail. I sort of wished for a boring dad who was present when I was a kid, even if he wasn't as fun to play games with.

Besides, 17 is a lot closer to 10 than 50 is. If you think about it,(I know at 17 I didn't want to, but bear with me), I think you'll realize most parents have something cool about them. They may not ever treat you like an equal, some parents don't, but once you're on yr own and successful, they'll have to take you on your terms, and that sort of levels the playing field.

My friends all think my parents are cool because they used to let us all drink under age, didn't mind if I got drunk at parties and got dragged home by friends. I was allowed to stay out until late and my dad is always making jokes and being rude in a funny way. He used to be in the army and beat me up in front of my friends...which is always "great to watch" apparently.

My grandpa is a cynical bastard who starts conversations with complete strangers. He operated with Air America during the Vietnam War. He worked in covert operations before the war even started. Reconnaissance, secret airlifts, all that shit.
