That was kind of the joke. With CoD generally being considered a multiplayer first game, I think its funny how many people were talking about the online aspect. Surely someone who was sneaky enough to steal an early copy of a game Activision bases their success on is smart enough to not log into Live.Sparky184 said:Not playing online, just being connected to live while playing it. Microsoft knows everything your playing so if he went on it they would know and then they would have his Gamertag which would have his address ect...Just_A_Glitch said:Everyone keeps saying that he'd be dumb to play the game online...
Who's he going to play with?
Well again, I still don't see why the people who would download it couldn't just wait. I mean, it's right there in the title of this thread. "A COPY of MW3..." The way people act you'd think that disk were a holy relic forged by the hands of God himself. I don't know, people'll probably always do things in ways I don't think are the best.Monoochrom said:Well, theoretically, if they were to leak it online they could use the Extreme amount of Downloads it would generate to gain Money. Alot of DDL Sites (by which I mean the actual place the Data is stored) have Partner Programs that give you cash for Downloads. So, just a wild guess, but done correctly you could probably make a few thousand off of this. You'd just have to make sure that you uploaded it litterally everywhere yourself.silver wolf009 said:Ok, I will never get why some people steal games like this. I mean, where MW3 some sort of super rare, one of a kind thing then yeah, thieves would be after it, but it's not. It's a video game. In a short while, there will be MILLIONS of copies of it. How some people can't just bide their time for a game and decide to break the law than to just have an ounce of patience and wait to get it legally is beyond me.
I agree that Activision might go DRM crazy from now on, but then again, they only develope games i hate, so i'm not the one losing.cookyy2k said:And here we are, more reason for Activision and other publishers to go DRM crazy on their next big title, or at least they will use it as such.
Umm....why? What would DRM do to stop people from stealing a physical copy of the game? To cut down on pirating, sure but DRM would do fuckall if they had an actual (if stolen) copy of the game.cookyy2k said:And here we are, more reason for Activision and other publishers to go DRM crazy on their next big title, or at least they will use it as such.
There was once an art theif (I use the term lightly, you'll see why in a moment) who managed to steal the Mona Lisa by literally taking it off the wall and hiding it under his jacket. I imagine it went something like that. A lot of security at places like that is actually what's called "security theater." The appearance of heavy security, without much actually there is an effective way to prevent people from trying anything stupidbloodmage2 said:am i the only one wondering how he actually got ahold of it?
urm... always on DRM? That might just stop him.Febel said:Umm....why? What would DRM do to stop people from stealing a physical copy of the game? Going to go out on a limb and say its the "COD: Elite" stuff they have been talking about (can't see the video it was removed haha)Kopikatsu said:Eggsnham said:Just let it happen. How the blazes do people KEEP thinking this is a good idea?Well, I zoomed in on the booklet.Eccentric_Jon said:I was thinking this. Not sure what else it COULD be, since (as you said) Bowling made that statement.Sparky184 said:Also I don't think that's an online pass because Robert Bowling confirmed you would never have to pay to play online. Maybe it's just a product registration key so you can add it to activison.com. I think EA did something similar where you could list all the EA games you owned online buy putting the code in the site.
It says 'Visit somethingsomething.com for exclusive access.'
So eh.
Yes but it's still a physical copy of the game, so that wouldn't do anything. Unless you mean always on DRM that's on before the game is even released in which case yeah, that would catch them but it seems like more effort than it's worth.cookyy2k said:urm... always on DRM?
