Haven't cosplayed much, although im seriously considering getting the rest of the stuff I need for an Imperial Commissar of the Warhammer 40.000 universe. (I've got the stylish coat and military equipment, so the only missing pieces would be a bolt pistol replica, a peaked cap with an aquila on it, a red sash and a decent looking breastplate festooned with medals and purity seals).

As to my other opinions of Cosplay in general: I do love it when pretty girls dress up to look like the more "naughty" looking characters in manga and anime. :p

The only difficulty is to be able to approach them without coming off as a pig. I mean, she knows what she's wearing, so it won't matter much what I say because she's only going to hear: "Sorry, but I couldn't help noticing your cleavage". :p

I've cosplayed Snow Villiers, Franken Stein (from Soul Eater), and Itachi
I've only been to three cons, but want to exponentially increase this number ASAP
My next ones include Vash the Stampede, Sam Fisher from Conviction, and whoever else I find interesting. I would love to do an intricate one, like a .hack//GU or //sign one
Honestly, its not about LOOKING like them exactly, but just having fun and meeting new people. As long as you're not sailor moon man, (who is an icon though, he pulls it off), and having fun. That is all that matter, IMO

I cosplayed as Sazh Katzroy a few years back.

I dont mind cosplay as long as its decent. I have to say no to 30% of the costumes i see people wearing. Nothing ruins my view of cosplay like a poorly done Inuyasha costume, or a cardboard box Gundam. ((Due note, i think the latter of the two is better))

Im a fan of decent to good cosplay. Alot of it.... is just bad, lets be honest. But im all for people dressing up and having a good time. No matter how horrible it may be to the eyes.

I cosplayed as Zabusa when Naruto became popular, and my cousin as Itachi. I had to craft the sword on my own and it worthed it! We made a hell of a duo.

My costume of choice is usually Sanae Hanekoma from TWEWY. I've been known to dress as Bandit Keith and Hitsugaya, but I stopped doing them when I realised I looked a complete prat.

I did a Cosplay of Ellis from Left 4 Dead 2 at PAX East this year, which I thought was alright, and am now planning on doing a Cosplay of Frank West from Dead Rising for New York Comic Con. I am just trying to decide on whether I should go for his Dead Rising 1 outfit or his Dead Rising 2 Case West / Off The Record Outfit. I also have an Organization XII robe so I do Cosplay as one of the members from Kingdom Hearts, and a Tuxedo so I can also do a Cosplay of Shizuo from Durarara!! I just need a wig for both of those, or just keep the hood up for the Organization one.

Nothing looks more awkward than the whitest guy in the universe dressing up as a Japanese anime character...
It doesn't help that anime characters are predominantly white. Really, what human ethnicity to anime characters look like? They definitely don't look like actual Japanese, but they certainly aren't European or North American. They're like their own species.

With that sentiment, if someone can represent the character well, then go for it. Otherwise, we get this.

Funnily enough I was considering a Shizuo costume, as it's essentially the same as a Hanekoma costume, save for a bowtie and a blond wig.

I've never cosplayed and I don't know if I ever would since it looks very time consuming and costly.

I do like really good cosplay not bad ones, and I have seen some really bad ones, although I will say some of the bad ones are rather entertaining.

Once I went as Ryu Hayabusa for halloween. I was 8 or so. I was one of those dreaded white guys as an asian, but it was hard to tell, because I was all ninja'd up. Does that count?

I'm a big cosplayer, with my main cosplays being Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach and Squall Leonhart from Final Fantasy VIII. I'm currently working on Soul Eater Evans from Soul Eater, and after that will be Ventus from Birth by Sleep.

If you guys wanna see feel free to check out my DeviantArt. http://blizzaradragon.deviantart.com/

I cosplay, only really got into it for about a year now. Started with my friends buying me an Ezio outfit that I wore to Supanova (the pop culture convention in Australia). I'll put a picture below.

But now I'm planning to go as Benny from Fallout: New Vegas at the next convention in a months time. I have a friend who is an outfit designer, we met because she was dressed as the Courtesan and I was dressed as Ezio. So she's making me the jacket. I'm even doing a skit on stage, I'm acting out the intro to New Vegas where Benny shoots the courier in the head.

what is a cosplay?
Dressing up like fictional characters, pretty much.

OT: When it's good, it's good. When it's bad it is equal parts pathetic, sad, and creepy.
Isnt that LARPing?
No. There isn't a story or game that they are following, though some may act in character. Also LARPers generally make their own character as opposed to take one that already exists.

Simply, LARP people play in the closest thing to a real life videogame, cosplay people just want to dress like their favorite character.

I really enjoy cosplayers, due to their ability to re-create interesting outfits and cobble together amazing costumes. Even some of the most outlandish characters can be seen in the proverbial flesh by these folk.

I'd love to Cosplay as The Joker(The tidy and preened bundle of chaos type).

I've never done it and I probably won't ever do it. It's too costly and time consuming for me, and I don't really understand it. What is it for? Is it supposed to make you feel like the character? Or does cosplaying have a sort of competitive component to it? Like seeing who has made the best costume at the convention. That would make more sense to me.
