I did a pretty awesome one over the summer but the only place online where a picture currently resides is on the webcomic archives of my extremely Neurotic Roommate.

http://www.moderntales.com/comics/dumnestor.php?view=archive&chapter=14267&mpe=0#strip2
Might I inquire as to which one is you?
I'm the one with the goggles, beard and bullets.

Wow lol i didn't think good looking guys did those things
For some reason i see everyone on the internet as a generic nerd untill led to believe otherwse
Consequently Freddy's met alot of Swedish pornstars on 4chan...

... you know, with people saying they're pornstars but they're not, anyone get me?

Cosplay:

Umm... I don't know. It's one of those things that would be cool to try, but I've just never gotten enough time together for it.
Sadly I've missed both the local conventions in my city for one reason or another.
Hopefully I'll be less tied down next year.

Me and my friends are planning to go as a X-Wing and Tie Fighter. I'm going to be a random pilot, one is going to be a R2 unit and my third friend, who is Thai, is going to be a Tie fighter. Of course it will be made out of spray painted cardboard. How would that not be awesome?
Sounds sweet sheic, hope it works for you. I actually have no fear of cosplayers, don't know why I don't though.
With cosplayers, like anything, you have good, bad, and ugly. Then you have us and the guy in the cardboard gundam suit who parody the idea of cosplaying.

Sorry I don't have a picture, but I went as Dr. McNinja one time. I don't know if you count that or not though.

Good cosplay requires some effort, just like anything else. The "ugly" examples, however are frequently either done by people who were either forced or just don't respect others' eyeballs.

As for throwing beer bottles at the various and sundry Narutos, might I suggest including Bleach and FFVII characters while you're at it.

I feel sorry for cosplayers, they must have really shite lives to want to dress up as some emo prancy twat from some JRPG or other.
If your girlfriend was willing to dress as some of the characters from video games and/or anime on the condition you had to as well, you would not? Think about it mate, if done properly you as the male could look badass considering you chose the character and she likely will be... well badass but more in the "half naked" sense since we all know video game/anime logic for female characters is the less clothing the higher their defense.

To me it is a worthwhile trade. :p

Different strokes for different folks. I've known some extremely talented cosplayers, personally. Sure, there are the bad ones - and they outnumber the skilled ones tremendously - but some people just find it fun.

We ran an article a little while back about why people cosplay, if that might answer some of your questions: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_173/5411-Cosplay-and-Effect :)
Ok, read the article. I guess I can see why some people would want to do this, but I would not. If there's one thing I've learned in my life, it's this. "The less you do to draw attention to yourself, the less red-assed baboons you're likely to have throwing things at you and generally making your life miserable." Sure, posting on the internet is as likely to draw jackasses to your opinions as it would Oprah to a 6-foot party sub. But the anonimity means your far less likely to wake up in the morning and find your house covered in 2-ply toilet paper.

So I guess my distaste for cosplay is just a derivative of my general distaste for humanity. For the record, I'm not about to go start throwing beer bottles at people dressed up like Naruto. But I can't see myself going out in public dressed as anything that would give reason for anyone to start doing that to me.

I trust people about as far as I can throw them. And since my upper-arm strength is poor, well, you do the math.
you really need more self confidence. to let your fear of others controll your life is terrible. i would geuss you were bullied in school(?) in the real world people hitting you, throwing stuff at you or vandalising your house is criminal.
But you can only charge someone after the fact, you will also have difficulty proving that it was them that threw a brick through your window; and even then they will only face a fine.

I ended up as Zombie Ed from Shaun of the Dead last Halloween. If i'd had more than a week, i'd have made the neck chain brace bit.

It was kinda just me, with an 'I got wood' T-Shirt, covered in fake blood i made. Contacts rather than glasses, darkened eyes and pale the rest, and mess up a bit. Few fake wounds.

Even got a bloodstained palm print on the back of the shirt. Thing looks awesome

Cosplay can be good when its done right but when its done wrong, well jesus is it done wrong.
At the same time it can be really bad when it is done right. Observe.

no...just no...

And a tip for you cosplay nerds: you can get Sauske's hair right with a dead, black, headless duck! It works perfectly...until you get your costume soaked with blood.
