If any country was to come attack us, it would be almost impossible. You couldnt nuke us because we would launch nukes back until we were oblierated. A seaborn attack would be fullish because we would just blow the shit outta them because we would easily fire on the ships before their turrets came into range.

Now the best i can see, is an airborne attack. If say any asian country decided to invade a simple lets fly to the closest border (alaska) and land they could march into our country VIA Canadia land, and then pose a new threat from a second front, and if they had a large enough military, open a third offensive into the Eastern coast of America.

Yeah staunch patriotism would probably kick ass for a while, the reality is, no hillbilly with his daddys 12 gauge is as and efficent killing machine as a trained soldier ready to eat his own guts and ask for seconds.

Just nuke them. Easy and cheap.
Well yea, but we shoot back.
Not if they nuke: DC, New York and LA you won't.

No Pentagon/Mr. President, no Wall Street and no Holywood!
I don't understand why that would be a bad thing.
First: USA would be without a army or be able to pull a military response in some time. Second all the world economy would go down. Third and best part...No more Michael Bay movies.

You expect that nuking 3 of our largest cities will prevent us from firing our nukes that are stored in the most remote regions of our country? Losing the President would not be a serious blow to the military, there are a multitude of failsafes in place for just such an occasion.

The American Army is not that great when you compare the Americas % of expenditure of its GNP to others. They are very well equiped, but relay far too much on that technology.

The USA invasion would be a massive problem

Anyone in the Northeast (I've visited PA) that wants a gun, has one. You put 200+ people per square mile on rooftops with hunting rifles? Then add in the armed forces, subtracting, however those that are occupying Iraq and you get roughly seven hundred thousand men and women (In the armed forces alone) with some of the most technological equipment, tactics, their home ground advantage, and you get one hell of a counter force. Personally? I think that it'd take the armies of either all of Europe or all of Asia.

To clear the air regarding a nuclear war with America, seeing as lots of people are blabbing on about it, I'm going to mention that the USA has something like the largest or second largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world, and as soon as they realized that nukes were coming, long range bombers would be mobilized and silos would light up all across the country, immersing the enemy in a massive nuclear shitstorm even bigger than the one the Americans would be facing. The only countries that could even attempt to do this are China and Russia, and either way both countries would be annihilated. Anyone play fallout?

If you want to excercise your "What if America got invaded?" fantisies watch Red Dawn.

It would take a cultural decline on par with the fall of the roman empire for America to be vulnerable to forign invasion. A lot of fiction tries to portray America as vulnerable to conquest, but that is all this speculation is, fiction.

Sure it can. Any nation can be invaded. The winner is debatable, and use of neclear arms wouldn't be that effective, due to the overall size of the country, as well as the massive supply of nuclear arms it posses.

Yes it would. No head of governt/military, population without money and no Director to stroke the military ego.

You would be so heartbroken, that you would just nuke the rest of the country out of sheer sadness.

You could invade the more coastal areas but places like denver would become strongholds.
Not necessarily. The coastal regions have the densest population, so they would probably face the largest amount of resistance on the coasts.
true, but nowadays if a small armarda of warships managed too get past the US Navy, they could quite easily soften up targets in the coast. you dont have those liberty's in central regions.

You think the US citizens would wait for the army? Really? We got a bunch of guns, we got a bunch of bullets and, now, we have a bunch of targets. What more needs to be said?

The economy wouldn't be too big of a hurdle to get over for us. I mean, long term it would suck, but with the monetary policy of the current and former administration have more or less destroyed the economy anyway. A nuke would just be a fitting end.

The economy right now is not bad. Did you read the story of the great depression? This is nowhere close.

Also think clearly. No Michael Bay. WHos going to make a movie about it years later? NO ONE!! Can you live with that? I don't think so.

To infiltrate america u would just need a small elite team to infiltrate the infrastructure, like batman begins "the government is so corrupt that we have infiltrated every level of its infrastucture" or something like that.

Any country can be invaded. But can it actually be successfully occupied?
I doubt it.
The USA are too big.
You'd need serious destruction to much of the infrastructure (such as a nuclear war would inflict) to stop the forming of a provisional government and organized resistance forces.
You'd have to actually kill a large portion of the populace.
So, unless we're talking nuclear annihilation, which I think is doubtful to occur, no, the USA could not be occupied.

Of course you could invade it... doesn't mean your campaign would work out but you could try and fail in a hail of bullets and fire.

Would it last long? Depends on the force/coalition involved. With America's naval strength, they are not simply going to let China knock on the front door without an invite. If you bypassed that and did manage the coasts, a recall of troops is expected, seeing as there are countless outposts in allying country's. And mentioning allies, a large force of other country's would probably step in, sanctioning the aggressor with trade and diplomatic sanctions, probably before sending troops to aid out in any conflict if it escalated.

Plus your point on a large majority owning a firearm of some degree, isn't exactly helpful at any stage, including full occupation where resistance groups would form. You've seen how effective the Taliban's tactics of hiding in a village populus are? Why would it be any different?

Plus land size... though it's cut short with new technology and faster transport. Imagine a 'Modern Blitzkrieg', and you're not too far from crude attacking plan. If the civilian nation put up a fight, that attack slows and there is where you start making errors and problems.

Nukes? Coastal cities being attack by sub possibly, but all you're doing is denying yourself the land you wish to take, so why bother?
