If not properly maintained and regularly tested for woodworm, the ceiling supports could someday break and Canada would cave in on top of the US, crushing it.

Though China might have a shot.
Not yet. They currently don't have the capabilities to project a large force overseas. They simply don't have the kind of ships that would be needed in such an operation.

Let's not even start talking about what a bunch of Los-Angeles class Submarines would do to their fleet...

It shoots undetected nukes from its gatling gun. No one would know where it they would come from.
Bullsh**

A gauss gun powerful enough to launch an umpropelled nuclear warhead would emit way more heat than the takeoff of an ICBM.

And it only exists in Hideo Kojima's mind

You could invade the more coastal areas but places like denver would become strongholds.
Not necessarily. The coastal regions have the densest population, so they would probably face the largest amount of resistance on the coasts.
true, but nowadays if a small armarda of warships managed too get past the US Navy, they could quite easily soften up targets in the coast. you dont have those liberty's in central regions.
Only to a certain extent. Nowadays the "coastal" regions extend several hundred miles inward, as does their population density. For example the western most areas of New York are well out of range of a traditional naval bombardment, and it is still as heavily populated as the majority of the east coast.
Cruise missiles have epic range nowadays. Even the V2 Hit london when fire from continental Europe, and that was in the 40's.

Do you think there may be a return too the mass bombings the that reckons with the likes of berlin?

I'm not sure if you know this or not, but whenever a nuke gets launched all the players hear "Nuclear Launch Detected" in that oh so sexy voice. So unless you know some pretty uber hax, you're not getting away with nuking someone.

america is huge, but i dont think it could organise itself well enough for a full fledged surprise attack. especially with the added training from europe.

And (thanks wiki) there are two newer classes of subs too...

No you don't cause the robot shoots the nukes like it was bullets. So they never launched. Just fired.

Alright. This topic needs more of me. The way the war would work: Mexicans get shot crossing the border, eastern civilazation couldn't boat over enough troops, there's nowhere to land a plane, and anyone that crosses from canada gets assraped by the army. Nukes would be shot from the sky in a second, and if the rest of the world actually got unto American soil, it'd be something like this:

American General: "Enemies over there. KILL THEY ASS."
Troops: "Sir yes sir!"

*Bangbangbang, Americans 1: other forces: 0*

Yes but there were only 3 Seawolf class subs ever build, and there aren't that many Virginia-class currently in operation if I remember well, so the Los Angeles are still the bulk of US submarine forces, aren't they ?
(They are still very good ships)

Nukes would be shot from the sky in a second
*laughs*

I'm not convinced the voice would recognize the difference.

I think the main reason you all fail to see here is that the US could not be properly occupied because, besides the fact the rest of the world's super powers are separated by two oceans (except russia), is that the USA will gain air supremecy against any nation in the world (even china). If the sky above you is controlled by the enemy, ground forces are almost impossible to be able to properly occupied said invaded country. Please don't use vietnam as an argument here the level of experience and technology involved in our nation's air force is light years beyond the post korean war air force of the vietnam era. That and the fact that the US spends more money on our military budget than most of the free world combined and you face a far superior force in terms of equipment, training, and as previously stated, no real American would ever allow anything short of a full fledged occupation force take any great amount of area of this nation. Alot of the same arguments could be said for America attempting a full-scale invasion of another country. The bottom line is in this day and age, a war to conquer would be a logistical and tactical nightmare for ANY country with the true capability to pull it off. It's really not even worth it unless their aim is just to kill aimlessly.

Well..its explained that when someone launches a nuke, the radars catch it due to *insert techno babel here about nuclear launches*, the Robot literally stomps over that and just uses Nuclear bombs exactly the same way a Tank uses shells, so the radars cannot pick up the nuke cause *insert techno babel here about nuclear launches* does not happen. And yes its intercontinel and can pick up targets.

The voice would never recognize cause it would never show up in the radar.

I can't imagine that the voice would just shut up all of a sudden because the nuke is suddenly coming from a Metal Gear instead of a silo. Besides, I haven't played MGS4 yet, but I doubt they have cloak and even with that the voice still knows who's doing what.

Okay you need to do some more research on your second point. the second amendment is intended to give the average citizen the right to keep and bear arms. Secondly I wouldn't call the media as rabidly patriotic every one but fox spent the last eight years whining about every time Bush pooped (of course now they praise anything Obama does). As far as the Nazi thing goes: firstly hell no, second no one has proclaimed America to be superior to all others and no president in our history has had such silly facial hair.

as for an actual invasion I see this going badly for the invader and the draft being instated. The mid-west and great plains would likely see giant tank battles while the coasts would involve heavy city fighting.
