Could anyone care less about the Wii U at this point?

Sure, I could care a lot less. What if half of their consoles bricked? What if they decided to charge a monthly fee for using it online? What if it was hundreds of dollars more? What if they decided to put online pass on all their first party games? What if they decided to phase out local multiplayer for online multiplayer?
I'm not interested in buying a Wiioo but it seems like the most consumer friendly choice right now. It's just unfortunate it doesn't have games that I really want to play. But now that I think of it, if the Wiiu had those big 3rd party games I like to play on the pc and other consoles (Fallouts, GTAs, Borderlandses, Bioshockers), I would be a total Nintendo fanboy.

The casual crowd that bought the Wii no longer exist, they have all moved to mobiles and tablets. STOP going after that crowd Nintendo! You have NOTHING to gain from it anymore. If the Wiiu wants to do well it needs to focus on gamers and commercials to draw in the casual crowd only sabotages that focus.
Also, the casual gamers who were attracted to the Wii aren't hip to the cycle and aren't interested in buying a new machine every 8 years just for gaming. They're playing on their phones and tablets because they already have a phone or tablet. Most of the wii owners probably only ever owned an nes (because everyone did) or a ps2 (because it was a dvd player) and don't feel they need a new nintendo since they're still playing wiisports.
Another reason they need to get more of those big third party games on the wiiu.

It's more interesting to me than the Xbone or PS4 right now, though that's not saying much.

Nintendo is just too slow to adapt to change. They need to realize that they need to actually cater to the audience that are gamers. Not little kids who mostly just play games on iphones.
Catering to non-gamers is what got them back in the limelight, so it's natural they'd try and repeat it.

Well Nintendo is at least getting the point that it needs more games badly for the WII U. I'm not about to call the game drought over tho since on one has any idea when something good after DK is coming out, and it'll be the only decent big title 3 months after the Super Mario 3d world release dropped. On that point to 3d world was probably the best reviewed next gen game and didn't even make it on the top 10 sales that month, gotta give people a reason to invest in the console.

Hopefully they pull a few more strings to get people to make more games for them with their IP's like hyrulan warriors. 3rd party gets to work a big Nintendo franchise that is guaranteed to sell, then Wii U gets more games and more people working on games that might make others. Either way it's hard to be physicked for the 1 game every 3 months that comes out for the console that gamers beat in a week.

Nintendo either pulls a list of games and dates out of their hat soon or most people will just write the console off and maybe pick it up when the console is about $150 and all the games are in the bargain bin.

Short Answer: Yes.

Long Answer: Yes. Everyone who bought one obviously cares to some degree about it so they could care less. OP took the time to make this thread, so they could care less. Fanboys on all sides could and should care less.

Don't ask stupid questions if you don't want a stupid answer.
Oh, it wasn't actually a question, you just wanted to vent about Ninty. Go for it.

There's nothing Nintendo could do to get me to buy the Wii U except stop being Nintendo, so "not me" I guess? Not that I have anything against Nintendo, and I don't doubt that I'd enjoy a lot of the Wii U's games if I were to play them, but I went exclusively with the Wii last generation (partly because it was the cheapest console) and the Wii U's library looks too similar to what I already have with my Wii to warrant a purchase. Id much rather try out something new, even if it doesn't end up being all that good.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
The only "next gen" console that interests me at all is the wii U. Most of the games on the other 2 will show up on the pc and their exclusives are meh. I tired of halo awhile ago and killzone looks boring, yeah I know there are others but I can't be bothered.

I can see people of jeffers ilk and others with money to burn caring about the WiiU but as for myself?

Maybe its because I didn't get a console when I was a child but the nostalga filter or whatever Nintendo uses doesn't work on me.

We'll know in about a month when we see the January numbers whether or not anyone cares. It really didn't do anything special in December despite having done markedly better than in previous months (just like any console does in december).

If it drops back down to the numbers it has been having, then it is really and truly dead in the water. If it maintains 400k or more per month? Then it has some life in it. December so far has them at over 700k units sold and it even exceeds XBOs in at least one week so far in December. But the XBO itself may not be too successful so that may not mean anything.

We'll see.

I could care less about about the WiiU. My interest in it is at an all-time high with the announcement of Hyrule Warriors. If I find a half dozen more WiiU games I'd really like to play, I may actually buy one.

I sure am, considering the Smash Bros. director is saying he wants to get it out in 2014, along with Hyrule Warriors, X, and Mario Kart. That's how it is with Nintendo systems, you may not get many great games a year, but the ones they put out are usually worth it. Though I was already committed to the system since I got it day one anyway.

I'm very interested in the 3DS's future too, but I know it's going to be good for the next few years already, I just want Nintendo to focus on Wii U right now.

Or they might just make quality games that lots of people enjoy, crazy I know...

Perhaps, but those 'quality' games are not enough for me to shell out for an entire system.

I'm not really that interested in WiiU yet, but that's kind of relative. I could put it like that, but I could also say that WiiU is the console that I'm MOST interested at this point. These days I'm primarily a PC gamer, and XBone and PSfour don't have any exclusives I want. While there aren't really any exclusives I want right now for WiiU, there WILL be some of those. A prediction that just can't hold up for the XBone and PSfour.

Plus, the WiiU (when you compare prior generations) is just a much better and smarter buy. Because I only will have to buy one. Every Nintendo console I've ever owned still works. With the exception of my Dreamcast (btw, way to go Sega,) that's not true for ANY other console. Currently I do have a working PS3, but it's had it's laser replaced (at great expense.) It's my 2nd after the 1st gen one bricked. After 3 360's red-ringed, and another went out after the warranty expired I gave up on Microsoft because their hardware is just garbage. I had to give up on the original Xbox as well. My trusty slim PS 2 finally gave up the ghost. It's about the 3rd of those I've gone through. I haven't had a working ps1 for years...

You get the idea. Nintendo makes a quality product, which is untrue of every other console. So I can imagine at some point I will get a WiiU. There's an outside chance of a PSfour, but the price will have to drop (why play full price for sub-standard hardware) before I'll think about it. But Microsoft has no good exclusives and no track record of reliable hardware. So there's zero chance I'd buy an XBone. About the best I could say for it, I'd take it if I won one in a raffle or something.

Well I could care less about the WiiU. I mean its is kind of lacking in the games department and advertising. And the 3DS is flourishing in just that.

But things at the moment WiiU wise are kind of....

Oh yeah! It plays quality video games! Thats definitely worth noting when compared to an Xbone/Ps4.

I am not particularly interested in the Wii U. Many of the games that have been released and will be released for it don't interest me all that much. If they were to make a quality Poke'mon MMO for it I think that would help out a lot. What could really help though too is catering to gamers. It's fine to cater to kids and casual gamers but at the same time they could be catering to more of the hardcore market too.

I'm getting more and more interested for a variety if reasons. First of all i think it's getting more interesting releases than Ps4 and Xbone at this point, there's one or two games i want to try on those consoles on the horizon and none at the moment. WiiU has around 10 games i want to play now and atleast 7 soon to be released. It needs 3rd party support, but i think it's getting there slowly. Another important point is the lack of annoying social media, free 2 play and what have you. They are kinda stuck in the past in a good way in that regard, with Nintendo you just buy a game to get a game, while Sony and especially MS is all about the "Games as services", something i really hate. I think the future looks bleak in the new generation, Nintendo is the only ones i can identify with at this point.

I care about the Wii U, I got it for christmas this year and have been having a lot of fun with it, I find all the anti-hype for the system to be pretty unfounded.

The Wii U's touchpad controller seems like a really weird decision to me, but the other two seem to be mostly going on about how they're good for not playing games, so at least Nintendo remembered what the bloody thing was for.

I'm not really falling over myself with the desire to purchase any of this generation's consoles, but Nintendo's offering is the most appealing to me right now. Kind of sad, really.

I haven't gotten any current gen consoles. But I would much rather get a Wii U than a PS4 or an Xbox 1 simply because it has more exclusives that interest me.

I'd already have one if I had the money lying around.

Haven't been interested in anything related to Nintendo in about a decade now, and that isn't changing. I'm not particularly interested in either of the other consoles at the moment either. In fact, the only games I even really want to play are Witcher 3 and MGS5. Witcher 3 will be on the pc as well, so that's where I'll get it, and I'll eventually pick up a PS4 to play MGS5 and whatever other exclusives are out by then. Considering I waited six years to buy a PS3 and still haven't even gotten MGS4 for it, it's safe to say that patience is a virtue I possess.

As for Wii U, sales for it will probably pick up somewhat now that some games are being released for it, but it has had a year of stagnation and bad PR, it's not the hot new item like the original Wii was, and it still suffers from poor third party support and drastically weaker hardware compared to the other two consoles. For someone with a gaming PC to run multiplatform games a Wii U might be viable, but for someone with the funds to buy just one console the Wii U simply isn't it. I anticipate a Gamecube scenario.
