Another con with the original behemoth PS3 was you'd get fingerprint smudges on it if it was so much as in the same room as someone with hands.
That makes you sound like one of them people who buys a touch screen phone and constantly wipe it clean.
I'm not, my hands are mummy-like in their dryness, but gloss plastic just attracts smudges like you wouldn't believe. The PSP has the same problem, only it's worse with the PSP since it's something that's meant to be held the entire time it's in use.

Gloss plastic is pretty, but not for things that have to come in contact with anything.

It also makes dust stand out like stars in the night sky.
I have a phat ps3 and it's stuck under my tv so I can't even see 90% of it, 2 inches stick out. It could be dusty as all hell and I wouldn't care, (I actually just did and it is).

Don't be so anal, be a guy. Man no clean!

The only thing I dont like is the controllers, they feel to light and girly for hardcore manly men gamers like myself. >8)

Pros: It has a pretty good libary of games, doesn't cost a dime to use the standard online like... somebody else, has most of the same games as that sombody, good blu-ray and graphics (if you like that kind of thing) and all around good console.

Cons: I hope you can play with one arm and don't mind walking around with a crutch.

Umm...

-A lot of exclusives
-Blu-Ray (which I honestly haven't used)
-SOME have PS2 backwards compatibility
-Not many maintenence problems

A friend of mine with a 60GB launch PS3 recently started having some problems, but I know two more with launch models who still have none.

I don't know anyone with a PS3 who isn't happy with it, while I know plenty who are unhappy with their 360s.
Well it sounds like all your friends have launch PS3s. The launch PS3s have problems that have been fixed.
I realise the way I said it that one could draw that impression. I was just mentioning launch PS3s as of the 3, only one has had issues. No subsequent PS3 any of my friends have showed any issues.

Pros
-Great and diverse games
-Good online store and great downloadable games
-Good community
-controller has good battery life
-blue ray
-replicable hard-drive

Cons
-Downloads stuff slower than 360
-Game installs not hard on the memory, but very boring. Most aren't bad, I think DMC 4 is among the worst.
-Chain mail (This is the only really bad thing I've encountered on PSN. It's not terrible, but rather annoying when you see -You have a message!- only to open it and see chain mail)

Backwards Compatibility
I believe the "fat" PS3 are not backwards compatible with the exception of...
-The launch 60gig
and
-The MGS4 80 gig (I have this version and I can play PS1 and PS2 games)
All PS3s can play PS1 games that are downloaded off PSN

As for energy efficiency and heat, the "fat" I have does get kinda hot, but not as hot as a 360, and the slims are supposed to be a lot more energy efficient. (I don't know about the heat of a slim)

Why is everyone saying the PS3 Slim is not backwards compatible? It plays all my PSX games.
That's rather trivial, given ePSXe runs them just fine too, and no modern computer can't run it. Not to mention, you can get a PS1 for $5 now, if you really want those games getting a 360 doesn't stop you from playing them. PS2 backwards compatibility is what really counts, as PS2s still sell for a bit more, and emulation hasn't been successfully implemented yet.
