Could you go back to Oblivion after Skyrim?

I found myself back on Oblivion yesterday after 45 hours of my first Skyrim playthrough. However I couldn't get into the game at all.

2 weeks ago I was having a blast with Oblivion (modded Oblivion mind you) and I found it really fun and great to play. However After Skyrim everything feels so clunky and old fashioned.

The combat is dull and awful, as is magic. The world feels like a late 90s RPG (maybe due to the UI), the characters are AWFUL (every male NPC appears to have Jaufree's voice), the faces are horrible, and the alchemy system is nigh on unusable.

Do you think you could go back to Oblivion after Skyrim? I certainly can't, because for all the flaws of Skyrim, it is a massive improvement even over modded Oblivion.

I think I actually preferred oblivion. Skyrim seemed to be buggy, and half-assed to me. The NPCs were irritating as hell, and it seemed like there was no graphical difference at all. In fact, I recall oblivion seeming much much prettier.

I just can't get over the towns in Oblivion. Apart from Bruma and the Imperial City they're just flat pieces of walled land with little Tudor houses inside.

I don't see how Skyrim could ever be considered half-assed. The level of detail and the size of the game alone should convince anyone otherwise.

On another note, I always had a hard time getting into Oblivion. Skyrim makes me want to go back and play Morrowind again, though. They both are easier to get into than Oblivion.

I thought I'd be able to. All the while I was playing Skyrim, I was thinking "I gotta go back and play Oblivion again after this", but when I finished Skyrim, my interest in going back to Oblivion vanished. Could be I'd just had enough of TES for a while. I don't think I'd have a problem with the graphics or gameplay.

Impossible. Oblivion was never that much interesting. I see myself playing heavy modded Morrowind instead.

Same.

Oblivion was great when it was out but lost its luster.

That, and Morrowind has a less bad story-telling main quest.

I am waiting for Modders to combine everything that was done well in each game and make a revamp for Skyrim. T'would be nice to actually craft a fucking spell that can damage enemies after Fireball spamming becomes weak.

I hope so, unless the "meaty" DLC that were hinted at will be revisits.

I dream for an Arena 2.0. Though it would probably be on like 8 discs.

Yeah, there are landmasses for both Vvardenfell and Cyrodill in the Skyrim - they are locked now, but... But... But...
Imagine awakening one day only to find that every TES CRPgame was remade, integrated into Skyrim...

Considering I played over 12 hours of Morrowind just the other day, yes I think I'd be able to go back to Oblivion at some point. I love coming up with character ideas and some work better in some TES games more than others. If I come up with a character best suited for Oblivion than I'd pop that disk back in!

And my wife would be condemned to lack of my assistance in gaining one.
Such is life :D

Though I did not play Oblivion extensively, Skyrim feels much denser in terms of actual content. In addition to this I personally know more people that have finished the main quest in Skyrim and can't say the same for the previous Elder Scrolls game.

A many people bought skyrim for a reason it is to see the master creators of oblivion make it look like
Rubbish and as this thread and the games have shown they have quite easily achieved this to
Rather then say better games were in the past and all the shit games are in the future of this
Darn world but no instead we see a bright future ahead of us with this game this game shows
We will enjoy our future in games and that we will one day have a game that surpassed that of skyrim

Today I play skyrim tomorrow I still play skyrim and eventually i will play something better than it
Other games show promise like mass effect 3 and many others which we will experience and love

There are many reasons to hate the modern game Industry MW3 take your moneyz
Hate but not discontinue to love because we see that games are young and unsure in our world
Every game is an attempt to be the best although some attempts are better than others obviously

Know that our game developers excluding the most successful ones don't actually make much money
Never the less they strive on to deliver to the growing masses of gamers which yearn for better games
Either the pay or the threat of failure has stopped our artists of our craft so they should be given more respect
Even though my monolog is long read the first letter of every-line to see Its long running point

Haha that is awsome.

OT: yes yes i could , i actually prefer oblivion , only because it is smaller than skyrim . Skyrim seems too big ( i know daggerfallwas bigger) and not a lot going on . Where as because oblivion was smaller i had the impression of actually being in a province instead of a country . Everything felt more connected and relevant . Even if it wasn't the case.
