Yes. If he/she had done something that would result in prison, then I would do it.

Noone should get a pass when they've comitted a crime.

it's circumstantial. if it was a crime against another human, then i probably would. if it was a victimless crime, then fuck no.

If it was a crime that broke a law that was made by a legitimate authority (And the law itself was valid and respected God-given rights of the people), and the crime they commited deprived a person of life, liberty, or property unjustly, then yes, I would turn them in

well if it's prison worthy then i'd hear them out, because i tend not to assosiate myself with dilinquents, if i honestly believed they deserved it then yes, i'd send them to prison, and seriously review my judge of character

Nailed it. If they mugged, or raped, or otherwise did something harmful to someone directly like that then yeah, I'd feel obligated to report them to the authorities. Steal a bag of candy from the grocery chain? Yeah most likely not reporting them. That's more hassle then it's worth.

"A friend of yours has done something you don't like and find objectionable, would you punish them if you had the power to do so?"

Seems like a pretty one-sided argument to me.

No, mostly because that road goes the other way as well, and I wouldnt want my friends to turn me in.

In the youth home I lived in when I was 16 there was a guy who stole bicycles. I didn't agree with it but seeing as I lived with him - and he was a ball of pent-up aggression waiting to explode - I decided not to rock the boat.

Then I laughed and laughed and LAUGHED at him when his bike (that he'd stolen from a friend so said friend could collect the insurance) was promptly stolen. Oh, how I laughed at his raging! Karma can be beautiful.

Depends on the crime.

Something minor...Probably just gonna call him out on it and tell him why what he did was stupid.

But something like selling drugs, or murder, or rape, or some other really serious crime...I would turn in not only my best friend for that, I would turn in my own family. There are some things you just. Don't. Fucking. DO.

Only if it perosnally affected me, or was a really serious crime like child murder or something.

People who are a threat or danger to others and or society should be in prison. It's not time out for adults, so unless they committed a violent crime then probably not.

Depends. If it was like, shoplifting, I would make him return it or pay for it. If he murdered 50 people by tying them to flaming crosses with razor wire then eating their bodies with salt and pepper, I'd turn him in.

My close friends? No they could kill a man and I would not turn them in. Also I believe Seinfeld covered this.

Depends on the degree I find it objectionable.
I'm pretty libertarian and also pretty tight bros with those I consider my friends.

I think the only thing that would have me calling the cops on my friends is if they were going to harm another friend or if they were murdering innocent people.

While I do not find most drug use objectionable, I would find meth or heroin objectionable. I would not call the cops on them for drug use though.

pretty much this

I'd also turn them in for crimes that have the potential to harm or indirectly harm another human, like harboring terrorists or something.

Only if I thought they'd be better off from the experience of prison. I'd talk to them first and say that I found their act objectionable, and that they are a threat to society.
