Just what the title says.

http://abcnewsradioonline.com/world-news/chinese-couple-sells-all-three-kids-to-play-online-games.html

Chinese couple seems to have sold their 3 kids to pay for on-line gaming.

I can't figure what kind of an animal would do this, or pay 500$ for a child. Christ, you can't even buy a pet dog for that amount.

I don't know what else to write.

Are you complaining that $500 is too costly? Or that a pet dog would be better?

Desperation will make people do strange and horrible things, and a couple who are desperate for a child would happily pay that much, and given the attitude of the actual parents, it sounds like the kids might be better off that way.

It's unsurprising to tell you the truth.

It had to happen one day.

I really wish that the conversation that took place before doing so was recorded in some way.

Great parenting! This couples knows their stuff, remember gaming is more important than the lives of your children!

I find it kind of funny how they got 10x the amount of money for the boys than for the girl. Clearly, they aren't good at bargaining.

Also, you can get a pet dog for that money, just go to an animal shelter. They'll gladly see you coming.

As bad as this story is, its not the worst thing I've ever heard about parents attitudes to addictions to online gaming.

Which is a sad thing to admit in itself really.

I don't think the Chinese can surprise me ever again. That's just sick and immoral on so many levels.

I suppose we can only hope the kids went somewhere good. Anyway, I thought Chinese couples were only allowed one child?

On the one hand, the parents just sold their kids. On the other hand, the kids don't have those parents anymore. But who knows if they're going to better parents.
Also, go that mother, reporting her son for this.

Girls aren't as wanted in Chinese society as boys are. It's sad to see parents so addicted to online gaming that they'd sell their children, but if it was their first thought then they probably aren't ideal parents anyway. What happens next time they need money, the wife goes next?

I've lived in Hong Kong/China for four years. Crap like this is highly unsurprising to me. I read about events similar to this in the newspapers...

A pet dog for 500$? Really? I can get like 10 for free.

OT: That's horrible. Selling your own children is evil, even if it is to people who want children. Isn't this what adoption is for?

Nor did I, being at work. You do raise a valid point, and I hope that it's not the case, but even the traffickers are likely to eventually give the children to a family desperate for children, merely at higher prices.

So gaming is more importanting to them than their three children (flesh and blood)???
While by all mean this is not a compliement but I suppose if they didn't do that than we would of gotten news of three children died from starvation or abuse by the couple. Regardless the couple are just pathetics.

I believe that was when they had the population issues in China.

When asked if they missed their children, the parents answered, "We don?t want to raise them, we just want to sell them for some money.?
You know I may not ever want children but that's just horrible.

Its cheaper to not have the children anyways considering hospital bills and such.

but yeah people doing shit like this doesn't surprise me anymore......

on the bright side (bear with me, trying to shine some positivity out of this)

the kids are still alive, and not cooked in the microwave

They didn't know selling children was against the law? In my opinion, if they didn't know that was illegal then they shouldn't have been allowed to have them. Also, why did no one wonder where there children had got to.
