I'm sooooo sick of hearing about all the fucking online gaming incidents! I know it's important! I just keep seeing them everywhere! Whew I feel better now. While this is quite, quite, quite~ pathetic I heard of worse.

Well, in China boys are "worth" more than girls. Families want boys so that their family line can continue, whereas with girls when they're married they go to another family and take another name. I saw a documentary where children were kidnapped and sold and boys were ALWAYS worth more.

Chinese couple seems to have sold their 3 kids to pay for on-line gaming.

I can't figure what kind of an animal would do this, or pay 500$ for a child. Christ, you can't even buy a pet dog for that amount.

I don't know what else to write.

And people think that China is going to take over the U.S.? Hah! The defense rests, your honor.

What kind of thing values a game more than a human life?! (aside from Activision, obviously) I'm beyond disgusted, and I'm usually the kind of guy who ignores this stuff. They should be ashamed to call themselves parents, let alone human beings.

I find it kind of funny how they got 10x the amount of money for the boys than for the girl. Clearly, they aren't good at bargaining.

Also, you can get a pet dog for that money, just go to an animal shelter. They'll gladly see you coming.

LOL well from my knowledge of the Chinese culture, boys are "worth more" than the girls (something about carrying on the family name or something idk it's dumb). it's why it's considerably easier to adopt a Chinese girl.

Are you complaining that $500 is too costly? Or that a pet dog would be better?

Desperation will make people do strange and horrible things, and a couple who are desperate for a child would happily pay that much, and given the attitude of the actual parents, it sounds like the kids might be better off that way.

what about human traffickers? How do we know that the kids weren't sold to them?

Nor did I, being at work. You do raise a valid point, and I hope that it's not the case, but even the traffickers are likely to eventually give the children to a family desperate for children, merely at higher prices.

On the plus side: They sold the kids rather than left them in another room unsupervised, then noticing when they're done gaming that one or more of them died.

And yeah, I heard that China supposedly has a One Child Only law, but obviously it isn't very well enforced or respected. I just hope that the kids don't end up in some kind of slave market, even if it would be ironic for them to have a life of farming plat which their own parents end up buying. I also hope that the parents end up too busy gaming to pop out more babies for the sake of not having the little things treated like a future investment in more gaming.
