Are you complaining that $500 is too costly? Or that a pet dog would be better?

Desperation will make people do strange and horrible things, and a couple who are desperate for a child would happily pay that much, and given the attitude of the actual parents, it sounds like the kids might be better off that way.
what about human traffickers? how do we know that the kids weren't sold to them?
fyi, i didnt read the article.
Because unless the gay forced sex slave market has overtaken the one where men like to have sex with women, then the prices isn't right.

put it this way: would you rather have parents who care more about an online game than you or parents willing to pay $500 just to have the chance to raise one child? exactly.
that being said, its sick and they should never be allowed to have children again. also, they should be banned from the internet cafe.

I'm saying that it doesn't make sense any way you see it for either of the people involved in this transaction.

Both sides treated the children as objects and in this case as something less valuable than even a pet dog.

I see your argument on desperation.

This whole thing just doesn't fit in any kind of rationalization I try on it...

It's just stupid all around.

Desperation and rationalization very rarely go hand in hand. Unless you were ever in a situation that desperate, I doubt anyone could bring themselves to try to follow the increasingly paper thin rationalizations of someone like this,
I doubt I?d even want to if I could do it.

I for one will applaud their reasonable decision. If they're that caught up in online gaming, they probably are unfit parents to begin with. Might as well make a few dollars off the deal rather than ending up as yet another "gaming parents neglect kids" story.

Now, if they were really smart they would have just used protection. I doubt $500/kid will cover all the money they've "wasted" on those kids over the years. But oh well, hindsight is 20/20 and all that.

Frankly they should have bargained for more money three kids should sell for about 2,000-3,000 thousand they were ripped off, also a truly tragic happening.

I suppose we can only hope the kids went somewhere good. Anyway, I thought Chinese couples were only allowed one child?
They are allowed as many as they like, but if they have one child then that child benefits from free state...well...benefits (healthcare, education etc.)

Have any more kids and you blow that.

So, aprropriately considerign the article we're reading, there's a monetary incentive to having only one kid.

This took place in China. It's freaking China. They still don't even like girls there. What did you expect when you combined a volatile socio-personal background, desperation and gaming addiction?

Nor did I, being at work. You do raise a valid point, and I hope that it's not the case, but even the traffickers are likely to eventually give the children to a family desperate for children, merely at higher prices.
Sadly, I think those children will most probably be forced to beg / steal / sell drugs . That seems to be the "thing" right now, no matter what age they are.
It's really sad and I hope they will get their revenge when they'll grow up.

I mean, they are SELLING their children.
As if they were OBJECTS. INANIMATE. Not to mention that they are their PARENTS, supposedly protecting them.

Sorry, I simply can't understand some behaviours...
