Sometimes in Dawn of War I play rather defensively with the space marines. Then I send a scout to the enemy base and teleport in 10 dreadnoughts and four squads of terminators. It actually works really well.
How is that even remotely possible?Marine Mike said:Warhammer 40k, I had my squad of 10 Chaos Space Marines charge into close combat with 5 Grey Knight Terminators... and I actually won.
Oh yes, on red Alert 3 I played against normal and easy AI as the russians and destroyed all the enemy bases using about 20 iterations of Natasha.hittite said:In any of the Command and Conquer games, any mission involving a "commando" type unit.
I have AoE 1, my brother has AoE 2, both the full editions with all the expansion packs too. On both of those, whenever I get bored of doing the same missions every time I fire up the game (though they are great games), I use the cheat to get the Laser Car. It's so much fun just zooming all around the map firing lasers at things and wiping out entire medieval enemies with a Ford Mondeo or whatever...almostgold said:In one of the old Age of Empire games, the AI was programmed never to attack your gate, only your walls, so I would destroy the gate into their city then build my own in its place, Their troops could never leave and I could just fuck with them from then on.
I had managed to vaporize 2 of them in shooting right before I charged (Plasma pistol and meltagun). Then just got extremely lucky on my close combat rolls, aspiring champion with a power fist helped out a little. Killed the last three, and only lost half my squad... Promoted the champion to my chosen squad after that battle.slipknot4 said:How is that even remotely possible?Marine Mike said:Warhammer 40k, I had my squad of 10 Chaos Space Marines charge into close combat with 5 Grey Knight Terminators... and I actually won.
You had some amazing luck there

Thats really funny because I had a similar experience. I was fighting Necrons and 2nd turn he deep strikes his monolith and it wiped out my missile-equipped havoc squad. So on my turn I deep strike in my Obliterators but scatter just outside that lovely 6" melta range, so I take 3 shots with lascannons instead. First shot, penetrating hit, and the monolith explodes. I never get that lucky whenever I have to fight a Leman Russ.Trivun said:Haha, that's pretty damn goodMarine Mike said:I had managed to vaporize 2 of them in shooting right before I charged (Plasma pistol and meltagun). On the subject of Warhammer 40k, I wasn't there to see it sadly, but two friends of mine were fighting a few years ago, in a 1500 point battle between Necrons and Space Marines. The Space Marine player managed to get first turn, and ended up taking out a Monolith, which accounted for most of the Necron guy's troop points, in the first turn. With a single Lasrifle shot. He got exceptionally lucky with the dice roll...

NOTHING is weirder than that.
Hehe I've done that. Hell one of my best units was the original Melee guy (the club one?) in a city defending it. Beat a tank.Cake-Pie said:Killed a tank with a pikeman in civ.
