Hi there!

Thought we'd play a game. I usually have fun with it. I certainly hope you will, too. Excuse me if something like this has been posted. It can seem a bit complex, but the end result is worth it.. Usually.

Step 1: Naming your terrible band & terrible album

First, we're going to create the name of our band. This is done by visiting Wikipedia, and clicking Random Article. Or simply click this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random

You are going to be using the first or last word in the article's title(Your choice). If the first or last word is "The," use the next or previous word. Visit that link 3 times, writing the words down in order, and you'll have your band name. Repeat this process, and you'll then have you album name, as well.

Bonus(Only applies to Band name, not album): If the article's title contains the word "Project," you must put it at the end of your band's name, while putting your pluralized first name at the beginning. If the article contains the word "Garage," you must put it at the end of your band's name, followed by the word "Band."

Also: Your album can have up to 5 words in it.

Step 2: The members of your terrible band

Now then, there will be four members in your terrible band. To find out who they'll be, go here: http://www.yeahbaby.com/celebrity-baby-names/generator.php?gender=boy&lastname=

Don't enter anything, just hit "Go" four times. Each name is obviously a member of your terrible band.

Step 3: Choosing your terrible instruments

So, you've got your rad name, and your great band members, but what will they be playing? It's time to find out! Go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_musical_instruments

There are 14 different categories of instruments. So pick a random number between 1 and 14. If your number is, say, 10, scroll down to the tenth category, and the first instrument that you read will go to band member #1. This does not mean simply pick the first instrument listed. It's the first instrument that you eyes glance at, and read. Repeat 3 more times for band members 2, 3, and 4.

Step 4: Choosing your terrible genre

Pick a random number between 1 and 85. Now, think of a random letter and go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_music_styles

Now then, once you've found the entries beginning with whatever your letter is, use your number to determine what genre you play. The top entry will be considered number 1, while the bottom will be number 85. So, if you picked, say, 10, pick whatever the 10th entry down is. If you got a number that is higher than the amount of entries, simply pick the bottom or top entry.

Final Step: What terrible venue are they playing at?!

All you've gotta do is go here, and click "Pick Coordinates:" http://www.random.org/geographic-coordinates/ You can be as precise as you want. You can zoom way in to see town names and what have you, or just zoom in a bit to see the states.

You're done! Kudos!

I may do this later, but wow... the whip is a musical instrument?

AWESOME. I will be adding a whip to my next song. ^_^

Whips were used prominently in Devo's "Whip It" and (probably as a result) were a staple sequenced sound in the early 1980s.

I think I'm going to call my band Mr. Forum Game and the Thread Movers.

Yes, yes, clever, clever. I just realized there was a more appropriate forum. MY BAD.

Ya could at least take part in the game, though. Common courtesy if you're gonna barge in, I'd think.

Btw, I think you need more than 25 for genre selection. You'll only end up with early ones. Get moar random!

I can totally see that being a funk band. Except the name. That sounds more like one o' them hipster pop/rock bands.
