In most 1st person shooter RPG's there are journals lying about or notes and whatnot. What is the creepiest one you've read OR the creepiest scene or quest you've seen in a game.

Please note I said Creepy, not scary.

I'd have to say the most creepiest journal I've read in-game was from Oblivion, during the Dark Brotherhood when you read the Traitor's journal. Also, Terry Cotter's (sp?) journal in Fable 2 is sort of disturbing.

And my creepiest scene I've seen goes to Dr. Stienman, and I don't think i really need to say what game he belongs to. (I get no points for originality ._.)

I always thought it was pretty eerie to read the Chozo scriptures and Space Pirate logs scattered throughout Talon IV in Metroid Prime. You show up on the planet after the shit hit the fan, and it gets tense when you put the pieces together and find out what went wrong.

Most entertaining was a guy in oblivion talking about his vampire plant experiments.

Creepiest was probably on borderlands, the humor kind of creepy. i'll quote a line.

'I only survived by hiding under a man who was being devoured on top of me'

And it carries on. 'I didn't feel sadness, but joy, because.. His chair was always more comfortable than mine, i took his chair.'

Fallout 3. Dunwich Borers. That guy going insane on the holotapes.

AND THEN THERE WAS THAT THING IN THE BASEMENT.

Because, he was lookin' for his dad, like you. And he needed to get something from him, like you. Just like you...

Thief series.

Once you break in, and start reading all their letters and diaries - you get to know all their desires and dark secrets.

Some of the Fallout diaries are quite chilling, The Dunwich Building tapes in particular and the Vault Computer diaries are haunting as well.

possibly Bioshock when you hear the Splicers singing "Jesus Loves Me" in a sobbing way
It makes me feel conflicted, Obviously I'm scared shitless cause I know a splicer is going to come and try to kill me, but I also feel pity for the splicer as well because he's scared too. And when the game gets you feeling sorry for a drug addicted abomination trying to kill you, you know they did something right.
and in Condemned 2 when you're in the exploding doll factory and you see in a window what I think is a clown lady doing cartwheels

Borderlands.
The tapes you have to collect near the beggining
'I dont like the fat girl'
'The fat girl doesnt agree with me'
'My insanity draws nearer, and our food supplies are running low'
'Im alone on my team now'
Connect the dots.

When in Silent Hill Origins you are in the insane asylum, you read the diaries of
Your mom, and how the doctor says she wants her son. This is followed with a giant blood spill on one of the floors that says "Bring me my son".

Silent Hill 2's "There was a hole here. It's gone now." creeps me out for some reason...

There's also that puzzle with the gallows:

Dead men, dead men / swinging in a tree / How many dead men / do you see? / Tongue turned blue and / face gone grey / Watch them as they / twist and sway

The first one killed / the butcher man / Then cooked him in / the frying pan / Served him to his hungry guests / And gave them seconds on request

I'd have to go with the tapes in the Dunwich building in Fallout 3. There were a few more from that game, but I can't remember them offhand.

Terry Cotter and his Army journals in Fable II.

His slow degeneration into madness was seriously creepy stuff. Then you see his room with a strange light and (what I can only assume is) his skeleton curled up in the fetal position, surrounded by clay soldier statues.

THEY WATCH ME.
THEY WATCH OVER ME.
THEY WATCH ME.
THEY WATCH OVER ME.

That, or the Vault in Fallout 3, the one where all the musicians went? 83, I think. That poor girl's journals.

"Whagsfs happeenie n t1t3 me?!"Ef "

Chilling.
