I've got two:

1. I was just about to fall asleep, when my alarm clock started beeping. it was in my closet, and it's one of the ones that gets louder the longer you ignore it. oh, and it WASN'T FUCKING PLUGGED IN. nor were there batteries in it.

2. I was sleeping, when all of a sudden i was slapped in the face. no one else was home.
my god, you have a ninja infestation
I laughed at this a ridiculous amount. I guess that means I laugh when I'm nervous.

Go get an attention span, this is a long one.

Sometime last year, or early this year, I can't recall... Well, sometime I was spending the night over at my friend Kyle's house. My other friend Weston was there too. Anyways, we were having a normal time, playing some Saints Row 2 when suddenly freaky suspenseful music stares playing. It catches us all off-guard, and Kyle pauses the game. The music continues to play, and we hear it coming from his computer room. Upon inspection, we discover that Kyle's music-making program was running, and a file he'd never made was playing. At first Weston and I though Cory, Kyle's brother, was messing with us. But Cory had been kicked out of the house for having a party or something. His parents were upstairs, and we would have known had they come down and used the computer. Oh, but it doesn't stop here!

We close the music making program... to find Notepad open. A message written... I remember it clearly.

"Error

-SI"

So now, I'm ready to shit bricks. We reply by writing another message in Notepad, asking who wrote it. I don't know how we came up with that brilliant idea, but we tried it. Kyle heads for the bathroom, and the "SI" writes back. Nobody touched the keyboard. We looked at the keyboard. NOTHING was tapping the keys, and the keys weren't moving. "I am Superintendant," or something like it. This is where it gets freaky as hell. We asked if it meant the Superintendant from the Halo universe. It said yes. We asked if it was a part of Bungie. It said yes. Kyle finishes in the bathroom and we're all like "Dude what the fuck is going on?!" At this point I believe the mouse cursor on screen started acting of its own accord, attempting to shut down the computer. Because we were retarded and felt like investigating further into this, we prevented it from doing what it wanted.

After the third time it tried to turn itself off, we let it. Prior to this point the "SI" had responded to us in very vague messages, one having to do with watching New Mombassa. (At which time it did not respond for a while.) It even drew the Superintendant icon in Paint, perfectly I might add. We wrote messages in Paint, and it understood. It wrote back with the pencil tool, even. It knew our names. It told us to crouch 100 times on the windows of the Pelican in the Valhalla map. Oh, but not Kyle! Just me. Just Weston. It gave us specific orders, and only to us. We did so, and nothing happened. So after turning itself off, we relaxed and began playing more games, as gamers often do...

"Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here."
Over, and over, and over. The computer was on again. The music making program was running again, and the text to speech box was open, with the words "come here" typed in. The button to activate the computer-voice didn't show signs of being clicked, and stopped speaking once we were in the room. Notepad was up, and it was writing more messages to us. Since the program was up, we asked if it could compose a song for us. It agreed. We were being nice, after all.

Oh boy, did it ever make a song. A song from Banjo Kazooie, to be exact. I've never played it, but Kyle confirmed it was from one of those games. Soon after, we heard nothing, read nothing, and saw nothing more of the alleged "SI."

Not until June, this year. Kyle and I have a website we created for our joint channel on YouTube, GROUPStudios. It has one member, and four Mods. Who are the Mods? Kyle, Weston, and I. Oh, and IIIIlll. Bungie forum members may recognize that as the username the Superintendant uses. Mhm. Somehow the thing got ahold of the Administrator password, and put a ton of code on our main page in News boxes. One of them looked like a conversation log between military officers. One was in binary. Kyle translated it, and it was a block of text, displaying all of the SI's many catchphrases. Over and over. Kyle and I were discussing the issue over AIM, and concluded that we should delete the Super's account. Upon this revelation, I reloaded the main page to see a new thread had been made! It was titled "DON'T DO IT," by, who else? Username IIIIlll.

Here's a link to the thread. Oh, and when you get to the post where he offers exclusive wallpaper, he really did. Three wallpapers. I'd share them with you lovely Escapists, but he told us it was not to be disclosed to the public ;)

That last post on the thread is the last we've heard from him... So far. *Ominous music*

Well, a few times when I was a small child at my old house there was this weird thing that would happen late at night when I randomly woke up sometimes. I could see the moonlight shining onto the door of my sister's room from where I was sleeping. And I swear this would happen a few times a week, if I stared at the door, a figure would appear and walk towards my bed, but if I blinked it would be back to normal. The only problem with this was that if I looked again the same thing would happen. I was always way too scared to keep my eyes open long enough to see what would happen if it made it to my bed.

During my school district's "Prank Week" several students from South High were in the habit of nabbing North High students (my school) off the street, taping them up, and dropping them off in front of North High.

Well one afternoon a van pulls up to the curb. Two people jump out, grab me, pull me into the van, close the door, and drive off. They then wrapped my feet and arms in duct tape and covered my mouth. They then decided to pass me around like a joint, taking turns groping me and laughing while doing it. Five to ten minutes later the door slides open and out I'm tossed in front of the school.
Thats really fucked up.

Sorry but that story would be better placed in this thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.119187] since it obviously didn't happen. No offense, but Bungie didn't take over your computer.

I'm sure they didn't, but all of that did happen. I swear. Why would I make up those Bungie/Halo related details? I'm not a Halo fan, nor do I even own a 360, and I don't hate the series either, so it isn't a detail made out of bias of some sort.

when i was a mere child i stayed over at my grandmother's her house was not big nor was it inviting, perhaps it looked and smelled the same as it did 50 years ago. History scratched at its walls and fallen children covered the walls. She had had many children, but in our country and in that time some simply died. Being a sickly child i was accompanied at night by grandmother. There were always stories, my mother had told me that grandma had a very special gift, that she could see things that pass unnoticed in this world, and for good reason for what i saw, felt, tasted... that night shook my foundations of faith. quietly by lamplight my grandmother told me of exploits of her life, a long memorable life it was. As we fell asleep my grandmother had awoken me she smiled and whispered to me "there are angels with us" i did not understand and stared with blurriness at the wall, i saw a silhouette of a beautiful woman but it was not made of shadow, but of light i called every single name of the people that inhabited that house and non responded, the silhouette hauntingly stood on watching over us, she moved, slowly she moved towards the door, our door. her shadow growing ever larger until a flush of lights entered the room, it was so bright nothing could be seen. but there was no terror in this moment, the light had turned everything serene, i heard a door open downstairs and in that moment of distraction all was dark again. going back to the darkness, perhaps, was the most terrifying of all ordeals.

this is a true story, to this day i still dispute with myself over what i saw. perhaps a joke was being played on me, but that is the beauty of it, i shall never know. i choose to believe, we are being watched, but we are being guarded.

Sounds more like someone Sub7ed (or installed similar remote desktop software) the computer to me. I used to screw with people like that in my younger days.

I once controlled the weather for about 45 seconds when I was around 10. One night it was raining, and I thought to myself "Make the rain stop" (i don't have anything against rain, in fact i like it). The rain stopped. I thought in my head for the rain to start again, and it did. It happened about 4-5 times without fail until it stopped listening to me.

i dunno, fairly creepy things seem to happen when one's consciousness is dreaming. i've had a few vivid dreams while falling asleep. usually when i'm falling asleep in daytime, and i'm falling asleep in something unusual (as in, not in my bed) i can feel whatever i'm lying on, and my imagination starts to fire up but i can still think and i know that i'm starting to fall asleep.

who knows, maybe that's what slowly dying feels like..? the whole story about life flashing before one's eyes, but still being able to perceive reality to a limited extent... maybe it's true.

Or maybe someone in China decided to fuck with a Gwailo.

Then how did you know so much about it? You were the one who brought up the Halo universe and Bungie, you knew who the Superintendant was, you knew what the icon looked like, you knew the IIIIlll username, and apparently you atleast play the game.

Sorry, I'm not usually one to automatically disbelieve people and put down what they say. But that story is just way too far-fetched. Especially to be about a videogame.

I have seen an U.F.O.

it was a flying ball of light(or that what it looked like) that floated on the surface of the lake. I saw it for a few seconds, and it moved left and right before disappearing. It was dark, and I didn't see what caused it.

It was an UFO, since I don't know what it was, allthough I have an idea. There is a road on the other side of the lake, and it looked like lights of the car. I think somehow the lights were reflected on the lake, making it look like there was a light on the lake. I don't think it was a boat, because of the way it moved.

Or maybe it was an alien hovercraft from the planet Xntrnoftbag.

Let me explain. Kyle is the Halo fan, and he often bantered on about stuff going on at Bungie and such. I just picked up what he said. Had he not told me prior, he would have clarified it all for me the night it happened. Edit: I know it's way unbelievable, but that's why you should believe it. No person in their right mind would make something up like that and assume people to believe him.

Very true. Which is why I still don't believe it. Or atleast, I don't believe it's some sort of supernatural or powerful omnipresent AI-related issue. Your friend is probably screwing with you.

Literally right when I was reading this thread, I started hearing music being played in my kitchen, my house is empty. It was almost like old timey game music, I was too afraid to go look and then it stopped. It was then I was able to look and see nothing was there. The only sound was my tv that I muted to see if it was it.
