I can't bring myself to finish system shock two. I just can't, its fucking terrible. I've seen some guy runthrough it and it wasn't any different to how I was playing it, so it must just be the game. I preferred Bioshock.
That's actually why many System Shock 2 fans, myself included, dislike Bioshock.

System Shock 2 is actually challenging and worthy of survival horror. The only drawback is the dated graphics.

As you mentioned, Bioshock is a mass-market appeal rehash of System Shock 2 in almost every way. The flavor is stripped, the controls are dumbed down, and the game is significantly easier. You're a walking tank by the middle of the game.

System Shock 2 is a game that appeals to people that enjoy a storyline with survival horror.
Bioshock is a game that appeals to FPS-players that like a bit of storyline.

I agree. While I loved Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament, I never really got used to the pace of TF 2. It's just too frantic and chaotic in my book.

Alright, what else..

Apart from that:

Pretty much ALL "top" iPhone games. You could play a game identical to Angry Birds on Newgrounds in 2003. Most of those games are plagiates.

DA:Origins. It just seemed awfully unpolished and as if the developers had been cutting corners wherever they could.

Final Fantasy X. Gameplay was pretty good, I liked that they got rid of the ATB system in favor of a more tactical turn-based system. But the story, the setting, the art design... That was horrible.

Final Fantasy XIII. Now this one doesn't even have gameplay going for it.

StarCraft 2. Engine update with no real innovations, also excessively overpriced to cash in on the hype.

Here's one people will not agree with: Minecraft. It's interesting, certainly, and a great creative platform, but as a game, I'm not sure I would ever be motivated to put in as much time as others.

FF6. Imported the game when it was released in Japan put it in was so hype FF is my favorite series and just..... this is not a FF game, just i couldnt even finish it i think i finnaly finished it 2 years later but still was just horrible.

All it has is a story, that its a 30 hour long story with horrible gameplay intertwined. i already wasint the biggest fan of 4 and 6 took everything horrible about 4 then doubled it. horrible game and the worst final fantasy.

THere are so many masterpeices of JRPGS and its really sad that am sure this game put so many potentional fans off from the genre. It almost completly turned me off of FF until 7 came out and showed the world that gameplay matters in a JRPG.

Any MW title after CoD4, any Assassin's Creed, Killzone 2 and 3 (loved the first one), Uncharted, Heavy Rain...

*breathes in*

... Gran Turismo, Resistance (any of them), any "critically acclaimed" Tomb Raider after TR II, etc etc etc

I bought Fallout 3 (the GOTY edition, in fact) and hated it. I just don't get on board with RPGs.

Resistance 2. Overrated piece of shit in comparison to its masterpiece of a predecessor. If only that predecessor had trophies.

I like a storyline with a survival, but system shock, even with dated graphics (that don't bother me in the slightest, if the games good i'll play it) wasn't actually that good. If you want my reasoning, the enemy's sucked, the monkeys sucked to fight against and it took way to long to get into it. By the time you got into it, you were actually starting to get bored with it.

I mean Bioshock, yeah, its streamlined, but it didn't make you wait around for an hour to get into it. The timing for SS2 was odd and it annoyed the hell out of me. Tis my reasoning anyway.

Also, the inventory system sucked.

Everything Assassins Creed.

For games thick in interesting conspiracy plots, cool weapons, and awesome assassin garbs, Ubisoft sure knows how to fuck things up with gameplay so repetitive that I become physically ill recalling me trying to push through the first two games.

Absolutely wasted potential.

The "tetris" inventory system always has lovers and dissenters.

Although I really do agree that the addition of the research chemicals really highlighted the worst parts of the inventory system.

All games in these series: Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty, Uncharted.

Also: Dead Rising (1, haven't played 2), Prototype, Resident Evil 4.

I've given all the above a try, but none of them really did it for me. I dunno.

At risk of repeating a bunch of the above posts...

- Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit (last year's one - never played the original). It seemed everyone lost their collective minds over this one, but I thought it was a horrible game and a massive step backwards for the series. Hell, even Pro Street was better... all hail the rubber band AI.
- Halo. Maybe I needed to have played it at the time, but I just don't get what the big hairy deal is. It's an FPS like any other in my eyes.
- STALKER series. While it didn't necessarily suffer from "just another FPS" syndrome, the things it did to differentiate itself never really appealed to me... call me impatient when it comes to wanting to blow the hell out of things :p

Well, I don't know how HUGE it truly was, but Fable 2 won "Game of the Year" from G4 and in comparison to Fable 1 I found it really boring to the point where if it wasn't for the fact that I was given Fable 3 as a Christmas gift last year I still wouldn't own it... Only played about 20 min of the game in total.

Thats practicaly every single popular game ever. Humor me, Mr 1 post, What games DO you like?
He's asking which critically acclaimed games I don't like. The fact it was my first post doesn't matter. These are those acclaimed games I don't like. There are still plenty of acclaimed games left that were not mentioned. Oh btw., I forgot to add the Assassin's Creed series.
Having one post makes it much more likely you are using a throwaway account, so dont blame me if i dont trust you.

And in any case, you didnt answer my question.
Why should I answer it, so I can give you fuel to criticize my choice for games that I do think are good?
Easy. To prove to me, and to anyone who reads this, that you arent a troll wishing to simply bugger people off.
I don't have to prove anything to you. Remember, I'm free to choose the games I don't like and you didn't have to reply to my choice of games I didn't like. If anything, I'd say you are the one trolling here atm.
Right. Okay, sure. *Im* trolling.

I made a entirely new account, and immediatly went into a topic in which a Flame War was likely to develop, Made a post which would likely start said flame war, refused to defend myself in any feasible way, and started Troll-Calling other people when someone might have found me out.

OH WAIT. That wasnt me was it?
All conjecture on your end. So far no one has started criticizing someone's choice of games but you. That still makes you the troll.

Jimmybobjr said:
And no, you dont HAVE to prove anything to me. I never said you cant like games, what i said is that you said that you disliked nearly every single popular game in the last 10 years aside from Half Life and Mario. If this IS true, then you would only likely play about 5 different games. If not, go ahead and prove me wrong.
So let me get this straight. I list a bunch of game series I don't like which make up,say 5% of the total games (and that's probably being REALLY generous) available, and in your mind that would leave me with about 5 different games to play? I feel sorry for you if you believe this.
*5 Worthwile games.

Ive noticed that you are STILL yet to say anything in defence of yourself. This just keeps going on and on. Every post since the first one has been you attacking me. Not a single of defence. I think this is because there is nothing to defend, becuase you are having a big ol' troll.

- Demons's / Dark Souls -
Believe it or not, there are people who DON'T like absurdly crushing difficulty. Fuck those games.
I actually don't like them for the absurdity of the brokenness to the mage class. I haven't even finished Demon's Souls because it was no where near as hard as I heard it was and when I mentioned it was quoted and told to play a melee class. One problem with that I like my mage class and I like my ranged class. So yeah I am not rolling a character that I don't like playing int he first place.
