Super Metroid (AKA Metroid 3)
It's funny because I loved the game for just the reasons you didn't like it. It somehow helped me with the immersion I guess, to start of with the same knowledge as the protagonist had. To be fair though my opinion might only count for BS since I actually adored FF XIII..

Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Galaxy. The former is dull and the latter is painfully easy. I just don't see why they get the praise.

Before I'm sacrificed to Miyamoto for blasphemy, please be aware that I did enjoy 64 and Super Mario World. I'm also small and won't bleed enough to satisfy Shigeru's thirst for vengeance.

Also Professor Layton. Completed Pandora's Box, thought it was pretty good. Completed Village, thought it was pants. Tried to complete Future but I just couldn't.

Have to say (after donning flame-retardant suit) that I really didn't enjoy Half Life 2. It never really gave me a reason to keep playing after I got frustrated, and as a result was quickly consigned to sit on the shelf, unfinished.

More recently, I was unimpressed with Mafia II. It felt more like a series of cutscenes strung together with fetch quests than an open world filled with different things to do.

Mass Effect. The gameplay itself is horrendously linear (at times its practically a rail shooter), with poor gunplay and dull mechanics.
As an RPG the Mass Effect series is SORELY lacking, even in the first game, and everything you do feels limited and linear. No amount of superficial moral-choice systems will change that.

The series is full of plotholes and cliches, the setting and backdrop feel rather lifeless compared to similar sci-fi universes and the characters are more like caricatures (especially in Mass Effect 2. My god Miranda was so badly written).

I have similar gripes with Dragon Age, which again is a perfect example of just how far Bioware has fallen since its prime.

Bioshock, Fallout 3, and Oblivion are all games that seemed popular. Fallout 3 and Oblivion are games I couldn't get into, but I wouldn't say they're bad, just not my thing. However, I think I might give Bioshock another chance before the day is over.

Red dead redemption and GTA 4 probably for the same reasons. fx: tedious side quests and RDR broke the immersion for me so often, when the main character acts heroic in the story an a villian when I'm in control.

Fallout 3 was and ok game just not a very good fallout game, I don't like being a supporting character in my fallout story, however, i liked new vegas and fallout 1 and 2 are among my favorite games.

dead rising 2 was boring and i couldn't get into the whole grinding thing.

Oblivion
Fallout 3
Marrowind
more or less Bethesda at this point: I'll stop thinking they suck when they stop making boring games

Final Fantasy 12
Final Fantasy 7
sad part is, 13 is better then both, not very far into it but I'm already more interested in whats going on then both those games combined

WoW
over rated, it's very boring, hot-key combat is old, the warrior class if all fucked up ( you can't get the most basic class right what reason do i have to think you'd get more complex classes right) and the community was a bunch of jerks.

Fable II, stupid side quests, tedious extras, and a horrible ending. Never felt my choices had as much impact as they bragged about before release as well.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

It felt too generic for my taste. Sure it was cool, but the gunplay felt out-dated and good god the boss battles...

Also, who needs a freaking energy bar to do a sneak attack??
I actually really enjoyed Deus Ex; Human Revolution, but I see where you're coming from. It is in many ways a vastly inferior entry to the series that spawned it, though I wouldn't be so hard on it if they had made their boss battles something that could be won using methods other than "shoot until mother fucker 1-4 is dead"...

Mass Effect 2 just didn't do it for me in the long run, it was meh on the first run through and on the second I stopped playing before the end of the tutorial and traded it in.

Baldur's Gate also bored me to tears, and I usually love games of that genre.

Morrowind and Oblivion were both just so blah. Played them both to completion, and came away feeling very disappointed.

Metal Gear Solid (Series) I've played them all at my friend's house, and I honestly could not get into them.

Resident Evil {Series) I guess they just aren't my kind of zombie games, played 5 recently for a bit with a friend, and it just didn't feel right. Also played the earlier titles and came to the same overall conclusion.

That's about all I can remember right now.

Oblivion. The level scaling made the combat feel toothless, the instant fast-travel killed the open-world map, and the interface was just... ARGH!!!! Skyrim is rocking my socks however.

Halo.

Just felt generic and lacking in any noticeable difference.
From what? Other shooters?

That's why.
And the worse bit is, all my friends are convinced it's one of the most varied FPS ever. Not realizing that half the games at Game all have the same mechanics.

Every COD since MW1. I don't think they are bad games. But they really do seem to be the same game every time with a few minor changes. I'm yet to play MW3 but from what I've seen/read it looks to be largely the same as before.

Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock, Half Life 2: Episode 2, Minecraft, the Uncharted games, Call of Duty 4, Dragon Age: Origins, the Brothers in Arms games, Dead Space, and the Grand Theft Auto games...

...I'm honestly not as picky as this post makes me seem.

Fallout 3 was never that fun to me. Maybe it's because I'm impatient. I loved the game's atmosphere, but I found it to be pretty much unplayable. First rule of an open-world game: MAKE SURE THE MINIMAP IS ACTUALLY USEFUL. I had more luck finding places I was supposed to go blindly walking around in the wasteland than following that damn things dircetions.
