I love this game to death, and while I won't deny that it'll piss you off, it'll make you feel like a badass sometimes, make your pulse actually increase at others, make you feel like a part of a team, make you feel like a ninja, make you feel like a hunter.

Basically, a good match of the newest AVP is as good an online experience as can be had.
I never got that either. I had a lot of issues finding matches, but yeah, I completely agree on the second part, especially when you are kicking arse as a marine, either in a team or solo, because everybody always targets the marines. Lucky for me, I own as the marine. I suck at both the Xenos and Yautja though, could never get the hang of the jumping about.
I don't mean to boast, but I'd call myself seasoned as an AVP player. I've gotten the win alone by racking up 50 kills against teams of four and four with every species many times. There's nothing more gratifying, but especially as Marine. Everyone thinks the marine can't do that much, but he's the most powerful class in 180 degrees. If he can see you, he has a better chance at killing you than you do of him if he knows what he's doing.
Then you certainly know what you are talking about. I really don't know why people don't like the marine, he seems so superior to me.
Most likely it stems from his inability to take as many hits as preds or xenos.
That doesn't really matter though, If you play as a marine well, most of the time you won't take any hits.
But people who don't play good as Marine, which in all honesty can be hard to do, see him as a terrible species, and that's where he gets his tarnished rep.

Monster Hunter. Not just the actually-appreciated most recent two releases, but the whole lineup - incremental upgrades and all.

Even so come quickly, MHF3/4.

I suppose. Although I still don't understand why the game was so widely criticised. I loved all of it, even the single player. My only complaint would be the onlines instability. Another game that suffered similar problems which I also loved was Chromehounds. I'm a sucker for mech games.

Another one for Alpha Protocol. Though I disagree on the bugginess. It wasn't buggy at all. In fact, I never encountered a single bug in two playthroughs. The AI was poor (though that's hardly n uncommon problem even in great games). The big issue I had with it were the minigames. That decryption minigame made my eyes bleed. Martial Arts was a bit clunky. Other than that, it's a great game.

A lot of people seemed to have trouble with some of the controls, but it turns out that they just didn't even try to understand them. Pistols are a good example here. There's an optional combat tutorial at the beginning of the game. I'm betting a lot of the complainers didn't go through this, saying, "Pistols? Yeah, I already know how pistols work". Then they complain about the inaccuracy when they try to rapid-fire with it across the levels.

What's really funny is that if you know what you're doing, pistols are absolutely godly in that game, what with being able to line up critical headshots while in cover and abusing Chain Shot. (I love how I can use Chain Shot to one-shot targets that I would otherwise need to use an assault rifle to hit accurately, like guys on turrets 50 meters away.)

While not exactly "Panned", E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy deserved so much more for a game that let the player jump three stories, teleport to inside of an enemy, and use a sword that creates explosions upon impact all while participating in a 32 PLAYER CO-OP game.

32 PLAYERS. All on the same map, fighting the same enemy, each with radically different character builds that allows them to do radically different things. Yes, this is a multiplayer Deus Ex. And it is AWESOME.

Also, Hard Reset did deserve a bit better, but not much.

EDIT: And one more thing...

The Harry Potter games were critically panned? I thought it was unanimously agreed upon that they were fucking awesome! :O

OT: Upon this revelation, the harry potter games, those games were brilliant and fuck anyone who thinks anything else! We must rise together and beat these "critics" into submission!

First off, a game that I will ride into the ground about how fun it was.*
Lair: sure the controls were shit, but that was the only problem. The flying was fun, the story was great, the combat was intense when it needed to be and fun all the time. Unfortunately it suffered greatly because the controls were SHIT.

Now more recently, one that I find many did not like for reasons I can't fathom.
Binary Domain; Sure it played like a Philp K. Dick novel, but it played that very well. The single player was one of the most solid I've played in a good while, that includes gunplay, story, characters etc. However people didn't like it because of the bad multiplayer, and I agree that multiplayer was bad. But that is not enough in my opinion to cause a big deduction in score.

And a third for fun.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed; This is a game that I enjoyed greatly, despite what everyone thinks. The lightsaber combat was fun if not tricky, the Force was a blast to use-pun intended-, and the enemies actually got tougher the more you got through the game. Sure the story and characters are shit, but you don't care about that. After all, you are pulling a fucking Star Destroyer from the fucking SKY!

*(It was fun for the first about 8 missions, then I couldn't get past the fucking canyon night mission)

Although the combat wasn't stellar this game is a masterpiece in my eyes:

I'm not lying to you when I say this:

There are interesting characters
The Writing is on level with Mass Effect
The Darkness level, for a pokemon game, is perfect
Pokemon actually die
Yes. This (Although mine is Explorers of sky...). those games are the darkest any pokemon Game will ever get. Really when you reach the the part of the post game where Creselia and Darkrai story happens the game starts touching on the subject of Suicide. Like fucking hell.

Also Final fantasy XIII. I liked it. Hell I am sure most people liked it. The only reason it gets so much hate is cause it is named Final Fantasy. I am absolutely certain that if it was under a different IP it would have fucking rocked. The game sucked as a Final fantasy. But it would have been great under a different name.

Hm, didn't get a bad rating per-say, but with the way people glance at ratings and disregard anything below and 8.0, I will say Tales of Graces F. I am about 30 hours into that game, and it has exceeded my expectations in story, and it game-play. When I was watching the Japanese videos of it, it just looked to me like a tales game with excellent innovative game-play, but with a dull drab story and forgettable characters. To many, that might be what they got when they got ToGf. What I got, however, was a story that forcibly familiarized me with it's characters, which made me care about them and how they had changed as they got older. I genuinely felt sad and betrayed at times, and felt as if a huge burden had been lifted off of my shoulders at times as well. ToGf is certainly not the prized gem of the Tales of series, and my favorite in the series still remains Tales of the Abyss, but it is still a great game worth playing, and if anyone says otherwise, then I reserve the right to respectfully disagree.

The plot twists were well done. At the time, I thought they could ONLY be done well through voice, this game proved me wrong.

The only complaint I have at all with this game really, besides combat, is that you cannot evolve after the "main" quest. After the Cresselia bit, then you can, which sucks because then there isn't much to do other than MORE missions. Thank god for mods, I feel that the personality test thing should have made me an Empoleon (I was Piplup).

Hell yeah, one of my favorite games. Xbox360 or PS3? I don`t remember any crashes. The last boss get`s pretty easy if you keep ripping arms out.

Duke Nukem forever is also on my favorite list. I had so much fun with this game.

Dead to rights retribution. Once you get the hang of fighting and shooting the game shines and think the overall presentation is good. If you like the old Schwarzenegger movies take a look at it.

Rayman Origins. I love this game. I actually brought this game over to one of my friends houses to play it. It was his birthday, so me and a few others played through the first few levels. Everyone hated it, to say the least. They said it looked stupid and childish, unexciting, and overall dumb. I disagree. I thought it was a well done game. I thought the platforming had great execution, the soundtrack was fun and whimsical, and the characters were better than most characters from call of duty that talked.

I'd like to throw in a second vote for E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy right here. Also you forgot to mention how you're able to hack the cybernetic implants of your enemies to force them to do your bidding, or cause their implants to overload and short circuit/explode, killing them instantly.

Or how the game actually makes you feel like you're part of a well funded organization by giving you access to almost the entire armory right out of the gate.

I really enjoyed FFVIII. FF8. The one that came AFTER the legendary, endlessly-cited, well-beloved 7.

People disliked it for reasons, whatever those reasons are. I don't care. I had fun fiddling with the GF system, and refining things I'd won or stolen into more useful items like permanent stat boosts. I enjoyed the story and the creatures, and even Triple Triad, the card game thing, and the way the rules changed and twisted by region. I'm not bothered by the complexity of the rules, or by having to hunt down the magic (I actually sort of liked that idea, a reason for magic being relatively scarce).

I also like the idea of a game being significant enough to require multiple discs, it just seems nifty to have so much of a universe to dig into. I'm just sad that I didn't have the rare widget necessary to play the chocobo minigame/sidegame whatsit. Someday, oh yes, someday I will.

Dungeon Keeper.
I can turn into a really annoying prophet when it comes to these 2 games. Preaching endlessly about how perfect a game it was and still is.
Goddammit Bullfrog, rise from the dead!
