Critically scorned games that the players seem to find fun.

I'm going to say Tenchu Z as my example. It was given scores lower than most movie cash-in games. But most people I've talked to who've played it said that found it fun. Anyone have any other examples?

I really rather enjoyed Mirror's Edge, despite its failure to live up to all the pre-release hype. Since I just bought it recently the price aligned perfectly with the amount of enjoyment I got out of it. How fortunate.

Fable 2's the only one that really springs to mind, I just loved the combat and character customisation.

Seemed a bit too copy and pasted out of Fable though...

I can't really think of any games that were critically scorned but loved by the masses . . . usually it seems to be the other way around.

I'm going to have to agree with you. I thought that the game was a lot of fun.

Another one was Army of Two. Reviewers didn't give it a terrible score, but many of them still didn't seem to like it. Personally, I loved that game. The co-op was a lot of fun.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

And all this time, I thought I was only one who liked this game.
Sure the missions are a bit repeditive and the combat system can fuck off, but it's fun to play, the levels are fun to sneak around in, you can create and customize your own ninja, and it's practically the only stealth game out today that actually demands, you know, stealth.

Lame story, shitty writting, and atrocious voice acting...But holy shit is it fun!

See reason for Earth Defence Force

Okay, so it's a GTA clone (but what open world sandbox game isn't now-a-days). It's still much, much, MUCH better than GTA4.

I've seen much worse games, with much worse voice acting and story lines.

Besides, I like Alex Mercer as a character, as you can explain away any faults he has in character as him not actually being himself... you'll get what I mean if you know the story.

Probably Dynasty warriors 4, that was my favorite in the series and I dont think any of them even came close to it, the series really is starting to go downhill.

Oh and Black and White 2, it didn't get that many good reviews even though it's one of my fav pc games.

I didn't really hear anyone say that until Yahtzee brought it up. Now everyone mentions it when this kind of topic appears...
OT: Most Pokemon games. A lot of people see them as copy-pasted from each other, but the fans love them.

I found the naval ops series to be really enjoyable as I love building new ships (some of which are entirely impractical like a battleship with 32 16 inch guns in quad turrets) but it was so much fun to win the game using things that I had personally put a lot of thought into making.

Koei Warriors games. I love them, will keep loving them, and if SW3 is not on the 360, I will be pissed...then probably buy a Wii and get it anyways.
3 new ones actually, one is a DW6 branch-off, another is a anime turned DW, and ofcourse, SW3.

critics didn't like prototype? how odd, it was good, same with saints row 2 ( and i hate GTA ) but i don't listen to critics, most are morons, and the one i do actuly listen to is purely for entertainment. i dig around find out what the game is about an give it a shot if it's interesting sounding enough

Everyone spits on it, but I logged countless hours playing Kirby Air Ride with my brother. Sure, it was shallow, but it was fun.
