Critically scorned games that the players seem to find fun.

Okay, so it's a GTA clone (but what open world sandbox game isn't now-a-days). It's still much, much, MUCH better than GTA4.

I didn't really hear anyone say that until Yahtzee brought it up. Now everyone mentions it when this kind of topic appears...

I claimed it before it even came out. Hell, I was more excited for that game than Fallout 3, Fable 2, and all of last year's games.

Everyone spits on it, but I logged countless hours playing Kirby Air Ride with my brother. Sure, it was shallow, but it was fun.

I agree. It might have been years ago since I last played it and I might be a lot more critical about it now but back then I, my sister and my cousin had a lot of fun with it. It would probably be very boring if you'd play it on your own but it certainly was an entertaining multiplayer game.

Another game I liked but a lot of people seem to hate is the Game Gear version of Sonic Spinball. I don't know why, but I just really enjoyed it and for a few weeks I played it almost every day.

People ... Saint's Row, Mirror's Edge and Fable 2 was NOT scorned by the critics! They were all in the 80% area on meta and gr, and that's really very good.

This thread is about "bad" games that you personally enjoyed. I'm actually not sure I can think of any games that fit this description, I usually don't play bad games. But I remember really liking the last of the new Star Wars film-games, I don't remember what it's called. Then again, I'm a sucker for anything with lightsabers in it.

Either way, I fucking love it.

However, I have played DW 3 through DW5 and 5XL as well as Warriors Orochi 1 &2. I also love the hell out of Samurai Warriors 2 and 2XL. I'm a sucker for their proclaimed Tactical Action Genre... >_>

I liked Prototype and Mercenaries 2. I don't really get the hate for Mercenaries 2. Other than it being painfully easy to find weapons and kill people, it was really fun. Especially to blow things up and watch the really cool explosions.

Morrowind. It got 83% in a review.

As my favourite game, I think it deserved much better than a crippling 4.15 stars.

Also, Jak and Daxter @, that game was amazing. Sure it was a bit frustrating, but it was still world blowingly awesomesauce

The Godfather 2, one of the most fun sandbox game I have ever played, other than Bully and Saints Row 2, that I have ever played. It got a meta critic score of about 50.

CoD 5 was a great game and it was absolutely dispised in Canada at least because it was released on Remembrance day. (I can see the reasoning but I didn't support the hate, infact some veterans interviewed said that they thought that it was just a game, kids will be kids, and at least it showed that war=butchery and didn't try to glorify it)

The only people who say SR2 is bad are people who haven't played it, and have only played GTA. It's never gotten bad reviews, anywhere.

Also, saying that it's a GTA clone is like saying any FPS is a Halo/CoD clone.

I've seen much worse games, with much worse voice acting and story lines.

Besides, I like Alex Mercer as a character, as you can explain away any faults he has in character as him not actually being himself... you'll get what I mean if you know the story.

Okay true. I too have played games with shittier stories and voice acting than Prototype, but the statement still stands. When it comes to conspeiracey thrillers, Prototype is in the weaker catagory. The plot and characters aren't very intersting, the villains are cartoonishly evil, the writting is meh, the voice acting is bland, the Web of Intrigue just feels like a lazy way to tell a story, and it's extremely hard [for me] to take Mercer seriously as an abused soul out for justified revenge once he's murdered and cannibalized enough innocents to populate a small island nation. Yes, I know the virus (or what ever it is) he has is somewhat turning him into a monster. But even so, the game still tries make him out as a rightous person. And in my personal opinion, that's bad character development.

I bought, played, and gathered the said opinion of the game waaay before I saw Yahtzee's or anyone else's review.

I must admit I liked Tenchu Z as well, though the final boss fight is fucking impossible and the game in general feels really really cheap.

Damn, I forgot my own entry. Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi 3 didn't really seem to get a lot of good press from professional critics, but I absolutely love that game.

Wolverine: Uncaged Edition

I found that game to be fun to play, even if the bosses were spaced very oddly apart.

Turok

No matter how much Yahtzee could condemn that game, he still never detracted from my delight at mutilating a Zograptor rex with the finesse and gusto of Jack the Ripper and the Pint-Size Slasher combined. Turok has given me the most satisfaction from melee kills than any other game.

I really rather enjoyed Mirror's Edge, despite its failure to live up to all the pre-release hype. Since I just bought it recently the price aligned perfectly with the amount of enjoyment I got out of it. How fortunate.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
