My 3 favorite games are Silent Hill 2, Doom, and Portal.

SH2: the combat mechanics suck, and the creepy dark world thing only happened twice in the entire game.
Doom: It can get repetitive at times, and the final boss was pathetically easy. My all time record of killing him is 2 seconds.
Portal: I can't think of anything bad to say about it.

Still better than most of the main characters of Final Fantasy games.

Edit: Oh, sorry, I missed the "be tasteful" part. Eh, there's no tasteful way to say "emo douchebag."
He really was an emo-douchebag, but I didn't mind it because he got it together at the end.

yeah...

OT:
monster hunter has no end and it sickens me that im willing to play a game like WoW.
but in the end, it still kicks ass.

Pokemon is a stupid rpg with flawed leveling mechanics because they try to take the intensity of trainer battles too far and you end up leveling up so fast your starter pokemon can effectively beat the game, and 1-1 rpg's dont really work that well.
but fuck, is it ever addictive.

thats all I can think of...
ill think of something later.

KotOR is too short.
DA:O has stupid DLC
Oblivion has too few voice actors and you can feel that the world is computer generated. Also, the Oblivion planes get boring quickly.
Total War games have horrible AI.

Sorry, couldn't decide which was my favorite.
The new play as the darkspawn DLC looks interesting for DA.

Borderlands-final boss was to easy
No intelligent story.
Enemies had pretty poor AI
Inventory is to small
Some weapons don't seem different enough
Weapons found halfway through are sometimes better than those found at the end.
But it works, is fun, co-op is a blast, and I have a hawk that decapitates people.

Kotor-Mission Vao was annoying
Characters seemed cliched
Combat went into pause-plan-attack-pause and didn't seem varied
Enemies had lackluster AI
Some planets had a drastically different difficulty curve than others.
The game is still awesome, the story is amazing, and the plot twist is surprising.
Now, OP, I hate you. You made my soul die.

Beat 00:00:00 on a chocobo, what the fuck? Retarded controls, seagulls hit you when they missed or they drop down right in front of you giving you no chance to avoid.

Some of the level design is repetitive, sending you through duplicate rooms/corridors, especially in level 7 where the entire level is basically the same rooms 3 times. The pistol is a bit overpowered, and the exploding glass weapon is useless in multiplayer. One of the drivable vehicles has too much inertia. One of the multiplayer levels is only good with many players, and the one with all the teleporters is way too confusing.

Deus Ex has really bad character animation and about half of the voice actors suck.

Golden Sun has a terrible inventory system. Only fifteen slots a character (though at least healing and attack items are stackable), equipable items take up a slot (and most of the magic you'll need to solve puzzles comes from equiapable items), and there's no way to store key items when you don't need them (you'll have to lug certain MacGuffins around for nearly 75% of the game before you actually need them, wasting a precious item slot).

All the good ones are either too short (Portal, MW2), but nearly perfect or Nice and big but with weird glitches or *Everyone Speaks With My Voice* mooks (HL2 and Fallout 3).

Plus HL2 has a fun physics engine and all, but the airboat bobs like an apple in a choppy sea and is sometimes disorienting and insane when you flip it over, and I've been crushed to death by walking *between* a heavy object and a wall. I'll admit, this one was so funny when it happened that I wasn't mad, "I'll just push this cart out of the way....<SMOOSH, RSOD>"

Pokemon's story sucks. It is pretty much always the same, and needs a large change.

Modern Warfare 2's online play quickly descended into a glitchy mess. And it was pretty damn short.
Oh, Heavy Rain? Took two fucking hours to really start. Alright, exposition is nice and it was good exposition but it was really overkill.
KoToR - Umm, eh, Taris missions were too annoying.
Toca Race Driver 2 - umm, eh, too hard at times?
Portal - ok, you got me.
I got one for portal! the girl is quite ugly :p

I don't really have one favorite, but here are a few of my favorites (in no particular order).

Banjo-Kazooie: Too many puns.

Tetris: I love it, I just don't get it.

Tomb Raider Anniversary: Too distracting for me to play correctly.

Oblivion: Crappy ending to main quest. Dark Brotherhood questline is too short.

I like that people are having fun with the thread. But one thing you're forgetting is to then say what you like about the game afterward.

I'll add a couple:

Portal:
I love you, and the puzzles plus FPS style is cool, but god damn you're too short. There is such a thing as NOT ENOUGH CONTENT. And I think this game proves it. Despite the fact that it's really really fun, I'm glad I didn't have to pay for portal. I got it with my Orange Box, which I consider TF2 and Half-Life 2 with both episodes well worth the 50 I paid. Portal was a nice, quick, distraction from the others, but I beat it in 90 MINUTES. Games should not be as long as a hollywood comedy. They should be LONGER. You could have done so much more with the story, and unfortunately, I could never actually bring myself to pay for such a content-less game.
But it is still absolutely incredible and entirely flawless during the 90 minutes which I played.

Bioshock:
Every SINGLE quest will be stopped by some random and contrived "go here, do something" sidequest. Unlike Fallout 3 (exit vault, go here, find dad, go here, watch dad die, go here get GECK, go here, win game), you don't have the option to just sprint through the "go here, kill ryan, go here, kill fontaine" main quest.
That being said, killing the bad guys NEVER gets old and fighting off big daddy after big daddy is a real fun challenge. Plus, the plasmids are nice and varied and there's a good chance to get every single upgrade you can IF you're taking the evil route.

Ace Attorney (Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice, Miles Edgeworth): Oh dear GOD. I could go on for ten pages about the problems with this series, but I love it so much.
First off, Phoenix. WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Is it phoenix or nick? Maya and Pearl call you Nick, but everyone else calls you Phoenix. WHICH IS IT??? And not only that, did you cheat through law school? And how the hell did you pass it in 3 years? Game 3 flashback: You're 21 and NOT trying to be a lawyer. Game 1: You're 24 and in your FIRST COURT CASE ALREADY. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE. Plus, in every scenario you WIN by bluffing your way through everything. And when Fransisca is around, GROW SOME GODDAMN BALLS. She whips you, LITERALLY, with an actual whip. I'm pretty sure that the 100+ times you've been attacked by her in the game is grounds for assault.
Apollo. You look like you're 12. And that haircut makes you look like a fucking rabbit. AND is it not a coincidence that Phoenix's daughter has the SAME BRACELET as you? And the same ability to see-through peoples lies? You've had that thing since you were born, and so has she. Maybe... I don't know... This makes you two related somehow???
Edgeworth... Keep being cool.

I could go on to say that the games are 99% story with 1% gameplay, there are MASSIVE plot holes in each court case, and every time the prosecution slips up or makes a mistake, it's a slap on the wrist and they are back on their feet 2 minutes later, and every time the defense slips up, we take massive damage, and if that happens enough, instant game over. Plus, case 5 in "phoenix wright: ace attorney" and case 5 in "miles edgeworth ace attorney" are two of the most drawn-out, contrived, boring, and POINTLESS cases in the entire game's history.

That being said, I've never really been drawn into a story so well. I care for these characters. I'm interested in these characters. I want them to win. I don't care about the lack of gameplay for the sheer fact that this is in the top 5 for best storytelling in gaming history.

In my opinion.

Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 2.

There are several maps that are completely reused. There is no difference in the maps, usually just the enemy and the boss at the end you have to fight.

Storyline was great, and the game play is a nice change to the generic build base, build army of the original Dawn of War.

Deus Ex is, uh... Nevermind, I can't criticize it. That game is perfection.
You beat me to it :O

Honestly it is hard to judge this game badly... graphics were good at the time (I think) and it's about as perfect as any game has ever gotten.

Okay,

1) GEP (forgive me if I got the anagram wrong) gun is massively overpowered, you can beat anything in the game with it in a single shot. (Forgive me if this isn't always true, I played in Realistic mode only)

2) Some skills you can get are virtually useless, why would you put points in swimming when there is so little swimming to be done?

3) Dragon Sword (God, I really haven't played in a while, again not certain of the name) is also rather uberly powerful, you can run into a room full of baddies swinging this like an idiot and expect to come out ahead, if a little close to death.

... This is a really tough one, I really had to stretch to find something to criticize. I can't fricking WAIT for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I certainly hope they don't botch it up, make it similar in good ways but make it a totally different storyline!
