I can't actually think of any games which mix gun and crossbow. I don't play those kind of games...

Pistol-crossbows; Used mainly by the Chinese but all over the medieval world.

Dual wield two of these and tell me they're not effective.

It's because most nerds just want something that looks cool, rather then something that would be realistic-ly effective. Which a crossbow is obviously not.
