Way smaller maps, I mean WAY smaller. No advanced graphic options, Extremely limited physics {try shooting a tree} DirectX 9 Renderer, No save system at all, Dumbed down controls . Yes .. it is indeed a Console port. Period

My damn kingdom for a damn quicksave...

Also prone...

And a decent size game map. And an actual map. And tactical choices. Basically, all the things I liked about Crysis.

I've had it 3 hours, and already I'm sick to death of walking from checkpoints into battles, and that gunship battle at the lab...

I have to wonder if the entire passable area in Crysis 2 would fit inside the tank level of Crysis...
No Prone seriously?

Checkpoints ruin games!
Is it a checkpoint system? Jeez stop right there.. that just SCREAMS console port.

Ugh.. I was on the fence about Crysis 2, but now I think I'll wait for a price drop.

I HATE checkpoint-only systems.

Looks like nobody here actually played the FULL game. Unreal how everyone is drawing their assumptions from PR etc. The "dumbed down options" don't bother me, it actually runs on 'high' on my laptop very smoothly, although it does have some big LOD problems which can't be avoided on this hardware. Extreme just sets everything to high like anyone else would do on the game, check the console or the config files... the days of manually selecting low medium high v-high from a huge list are over, especially with the beauty Crytek invoked with this game.

This is first and foremost a PC game. The design decisions reek of it. Go find me a 10-13 hour campaign experience that is seriously engaging most of the way through, and bind it to a soundtrack that ebbs and flows unlike anything (and better than) since the original Halo. To whoever wants to disable HDR, find another game. This isn't for you. I actually walked outside on occasions and stopped to look up through the trees; the effect is chilling and uncanny.

It may play linearly, but the same thrill from Crysis of choosing how to approach the next objective is still there, and improved upon with the binocs. I never really had the need, but when I needed to quickly spot an ammo crate or see who was behind the walls and tag during my stealthy forays, it proved invaluable. The suit AI really gets interesting after a certain point but that's spoilers ;)

It was a day 1 buy for me and I'm glad. It is unparalleled in design and function, and you all can take your dark brown military FPS.
THIS! Over 9000 times!
Everyone is bitching about the game before even playing it. I have a great time with the game and fooling around with the AI. Its a much more focused game than the first Crysis was. Just because it isnt in a "open" Area like a jungle doesnt mean its a corridor shooter

From what I'm reading on many different forums is that the game is good on PC but does not compare to the technological showcase that is the original(Which I still use as a benchmark). The other thing I'm picking up on is that if a PC Gamer has an issue with the fact that Crysis 2 does not push the limits of what custom rigs are capable of they are immediately branded "Elitists" Why? Because we dare to call out a developer for a sub par PC game? Even if the PC version isn't a direct console port you cannot deny that it was developed with the console in mind and that is Crytek's biggest failing.

Clearly they weren't talking about my low-end PC. >_<

Right. PC gamers are blind apparently.
I don't think they are blind, just pissed. I was a PC gamer for over 10 years, but got tired of sinking ungodly amounts of money into my machines to play a particular game. If I spend upwards of $2000 on a machine, you better believe that I am going to get pissed at a developer who is selling me a port of a console game.
Honestly, if you spend any more than $800-$1000 on just a gaming PC, you're doing it wrong.

OT: One PC gamer to another, mate. If you want devs/pubs to take you seriously, stop acting like 5 year olds.

I believe I said "upwards," buying a gaming PC in the early 90's was not a cheap time to game. And I am talking about high end not a cheap Alienware Dell, Mate!

How would even call the graphics settings "Gamer", "Advanced" and "Hardcore"? That's totally nondescript! Not that I had any interest in this to begin with, but this certainly isn't helping.
