Looks like renders to me.

Of course, knowing how good Crysis looks on my sub-par computer, I don't doubt the actual game is going to look even better that those renders with a high-end tower.

These can't be ingame screenshots ,new cryengine was supposed to be less demanding and it would run on xbox360 ,i could run the first ones on high settings ,got a bit laggy on some places but it was playable. I don't think that making a game just for people with insane pc's is good business.

If it was anything like the first game, it will be designed to be used by the worlds best supercomputer in 20 years time.

I consider them promo shots until proven otherwise, like, actually playing the game rather than following the hype.

ANd even if it have great graphics, if it foloows the original game and addon.. then its likely to be very "meh", the human AI was pathetically easy even on Delta difficulty in the first games(or broken, with boat gunners and choppers)... so i just hope they will actually put some work in the AI department this time. Oh, and less aliens, no forced flying vehicle parts, and less uber-invincible-for-no-good-reason ennemy nanosuits please, they were boring as hell to fight.

Well I have to wonder if that's just a CGI video... but considering the first game, who knows. Also, to run a game at that quality of graphics... oh man, no WAY you could play it without a $1000+ super gaming rig lol.
Or an xbox 360 *badum tish*.

Whoopdee doo, another game from Crytek.

Sure, they're good at coding an engine, but they are absolutely TERRIBLE at making a game with coherent gameplay. Both Far Cry 1 and Crysis suffered from the exact same problem, They started out with a decent enough idea for a game and then completely cocked it all up by removing everything that made the game at least a little fun, and replacing it with one giant you vs weird looking thingies shooter gameplay. Sure Far Cry/Crysis let you have a toy of some sort that did all sorts of neat stuff, and they give you a few opportunities to get creative and try different combinations and ideas, but then they take it all away and replace it with mutants/aliens that you can't do anything to besides just shoot a lot. Crytek has proven that it is incapable of learning from its mistakes, and unless everyone comes back from playing Crysis 2 saying "holy god, they fixed it," then I'm not interested. At the most I'll just use the demo, if there is one, as a benchmarking tool and that's it.
Cool rant, Hansel.
That's very subjective, I personally think Farcry and Crysis were great. Top-notch graphics (obviously), tactical gameplay (heaps of ways to approach all situations) and well, storyline's always a bit standard sci-fi but come on, it's an FPS - not an in-depth adventure//RPG. I think you're hating on Crytek for some pretty petty reasons, they continually push the envelope for certain areas on the market and you're bitching because they don't adhere to your strict 'no-aliens' contingent. That's like getting angry at Tarantino for introducing vampires in Dusk till Dawn, it's Cryteks style... deal with it?
You can't promote the tactical gameplay in a game when the last halves of their games HAVE no tactical gameplay. I don't care if there are aliens and mutants, but when they change the game into a super bland, run and gun game, yeah I do care. "I'm hating on Crytek for petty reasons." Having a serious issue with deficient gameplay is a petty reason? That's like saying that Aliens Vs Predator is a universally acclaimed game if you ignore the bad reviews.

Oh....wait...
Hmmmm, I do see where you're coming from. What I guess I'm trying to defend is that it was a tactical game in the first half, then it dropped itself down to the skill levels of all the other mass-marketed FPS' (COD, Halo etc.) in the second half.

Exactly, and to me that smacks of a developer just running out of ideas for how to keep the game going. Crysis would have been a lot of fun if the aliens had been something that would have allowed you to take advantage of your suits powers, but instead your suit becomes rather useless which kinda defeats the point of the game. They basically let you have a really awesome toy for a few hours and then make it pointless. They did the same damned thing in Far Cry when they took all of the super awesome tactical gameplay away and replaced it with bland running and gunning. I'm really not looking forward to Crysis 2 soley because of Crytek's track record of making half of the game brilliant and the last half mind numbingly bad.

I really think it would've been quite easy to add a little more tactics to the later maps as well, just take out a few vehicle sections, add more forest-cover and vantage points along the way, hell even a couple of sections where you could sneak up on an alien patrol and stealth-kill them. Would've made the world of difference!

I'm looking forward to the day, where even a sortof cheap computer/console can run games wher eteh in-game graphics are as sweet as those pre-rendered images.

And the following time, where they realize graphcis have topped and every game has that godo graphics, and starts competing on other stuff.

Just like the original, this game is going to look pretty but it's going to have shalllow and bland gameplay. This game is going to be nothing more than just eye-candy, just like Crysis and Crysis Warhead.
I kinda agree. To me this game is nothing but eye-candy, but many people seem to enjoy the gameplay. And that's good for them!

These are usually done on an ultra-powerful developer PC and kit, so these probably won't be a 100% representation of the actual graphics. But hell, we can just ride the hype rather than thinking logically.

... I could stare at this game literally all day and never once become bored. I would be the secluded kid with a tear in his left eye saying, "It... it's just so beautiful."

When a game's graphic are superior to real life? Wow...

Thank God I just bought a £950 computer (not sure how much that is in dollars) But by jove I might be able to run this

Thiink im gonna look into buying a new graphics card maybe a new processor too
Noice, what are the stats? (950 Pounds = about $1600AUD if anyone's interested)
I'm thinking of decking out my RAM to 6 or 8 gigs, Can't get enough of that stuff :D
I'd hold out a bit for graphics cards, the longer you wait - the cheaper they get!

Pretty sure all logic flew out the window as the first puddle of drool landed on my keyboard.

Honestly, that demo didn't really do it for me. I've seen some pretty impressive screenshots, but in live action it seemed pretty much like most modern games. I have a feeling it will be a pretty mediocre game if they're putting so much emphasis on graphics, what areas are they ignoring?

The reason they're emphasizing on graphics and other non-gameplay stuff is that this is not to advertise the game to players, but its engine to potential licensees.
That said, it does look pretty neat, and the lighting is awesome. It doesn't really show what was already a strong point of CryEngine2 - the enormous amount of close-up detail. Another strong point is visible, though: CryEngine's phsyics systems, which, again, seems awesome.

That said, I still agree with your other statement. I expect this game to be every bit as mediocre as Crysis.
