I think it could work as just an appearance, but you shouldn't be able to actually kill him. I'd love to see another Cthulhu mythos game made by the same folks who made Dark Corners of the Earth. Too bad that's never going to happen, as it was a great game. Fundamentally all the gameplay mechanics are pretty sound, and it's atmosphere is amazing, it's a shame the PC version was so buggy. Really I could only see Cthulhu working if he appeared briefly right at the end and caused you to go insane and kill yourself. Either shooting yourself, jumping off a cliff into the ocean, or what have you. I can imagine it being very impressive, especially if done with the same insanity effects of Dark Corners of the Earth. But you don't kill Cthulhu, period.
The game was made by Bethesda.

Correct me if I'm wrong, since its been a while, but didn't they "kill" him in the story by running a boat into his head, forcing him to retreat into his city once more?

Seems pretty beatable to me. Especially now that it is the present and you could just nuke him. "Oh, he went back into his hole for another billion years of evil slumber? Whatever. Not our problem. Write a note for the next guys."

No, it was made by Headfirst. It was published by Bethesda. And I believe they might've paid the two guys from Headfirst that made the PC port after the Xbox version was done, before the dev team was dissolved.

Didn't they defeat him in the book by ramming him with a boat? I wonder what some missiles would do...
They did make that one Cthulu game. I'm not too sure about it's quality though.

Do you think its possible to make a game in which Cthulu would make and appearance and/or would even be killable?
Ok, this is like... the tenth Thread you've started in the past hour. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but how can you possibly keep up with everything at once?

And no. Cthulu cannot be killed... unless, like, a GOD literally showed up and fought him.

Dude, kind of off topic. But you've made about 30 threads in one day.
Kind of lame.

No, you really need to play this game. It has a great horror vibe; better than anything the latter incarnations of Resident Evil and Silent Hill can muster.

Just because im bored, I have a small plastic statue of The Great Cthulu sitting on top of my TV the thing looks awesome and is extremely detailed in the style of painting. I can tell just by looking at the thing, Cthulu is impossible to even encounter even if you some how got to R'lyeh where he sleeps. But a game where he makes an appearance would be cool even if it was just before the end credits or after the credits. Also no you can't kill him, maybe stall but not kill.

At best you can stall him, there's no weapon on earth that even come close to killing him or any of the great old ones.

Cthulhu cannot be killed. Cthulhu Games has released a few Cthulhu related storylines. They're actually some pretty good games too. They also further prove the stereotype that games we don't generally know about tend to be pretty damn good.

Lies. Cthulu is unimaginably horrible. He cannot appear in a game, as he is too horrible to be imagining him. In fact, by trying to imagine how horrible he is, He's coming to get you!
This is the actual concept behind Cthulhu (and actual spelling). Cthulhu is a concept that cannot be fully imagined, and an appearance would undermine that.

Cthulhu cannot die. End of story. His gaze causes instant insanity. I would love to see a game where you play as him mindlessly destroying everything.
Cthulhu Damarcy?
