Flight Commander Tanaka was the only one who had survived. He had managed to crawl away from the plane with nothing more then his pistol, a radio and an IR stick. He made his way to an abandoned warehouse a short distance away. He limped to the roof, he knew to get to high ground. He tuned the radio into the frequency he had learned off by heart and hoped he would never need to use. ?This is Flight-Commander Tanaka calling for any nearby S&R team. I am currently located near Jagertown?

?This is Lt O?Dwyer of the 37th Lake Ire marine corp. We are coming in to get you Flight-Commander. Hold tight? O?Dwyer looked up at his men ?Ok boys and girls we are 5 minutes out, our mission is to get in there, get the survivors and get the kuck out before the Germanskians get there.?

Tanaka crept over to the edge of the roof. The gunfire was coming from below him at the helicopter. He could make out the two men shooting. He raised his pistol and aimed it at the men ?Banzai? he yelled as he fired. His first bullet took one man in the shoulder his second took the same man in the stomach, his third took the second man in the face. He fired his other five bullets at the corpses.

?Lt I?m setting her down? O?Dwyer went to get out of the helicopter but Jameson was out first. He ran straight to the slumped form of Tanaka ?Come on sir! Were getting you outta here.? Jameson helped him to his feet and brought him to the helicopter. He strapped Tanaka in before anyone else got out of the helicopter. O?Dwyer just looked on in shock ?Butch we have our VIP get us outta here? ?Yes Sir?. The helicopter took off towards home.

?Jameson if you don?t mind me asking, why did you jump out of the helo first?? ?Because after he killed those two militiamen I realised that if this slinty-eyed bastard is willing to kill to save me a Lakemendar well then maybe I was wrong about them.?

Larkin was happy. The date had gone through with no major problems turning up. Amanda was back to the bookshop were she worked and Larkin was finishing up his lunch at the bar. He barely noticed the TV showing the news. His eyes caught the words ?Special Bulletin? he turned to the barman ?Hey can you turn that up??. The barman turned up the TV ??ive onboard the UCNS Delta were a marine search and rescue team from Lake Ire, Lakemen Province, have just returned from a successful mission into Germanskia to retrieve the pilot Wing-Commander Tanaka from Ginzo Province, Nakadea. Video and eye-witness testimony from the marines states that not only did they come under fire but risked the gunfire to save W-C Tanaka who in turn saved them by killing two enemy soldiers. They main question here though is: Does this signal an end to the Lakemender/Nakadean racist hatred? This is Susan Boland reporting for UCNTV.?
Larkin grinned. He got up and got into his car. He arrived in the PM?s office later and drafted a quick message to Edmund to say well done. He had just broken out the celebratory whiskey when an embassy dispatch came in.
