braindead. Go on wiki and look up how much fake blood was used. I dont want to spoil it in case you do watch but it allso has one of the best movie one liners ever.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but 'Braindead' is another name for 'Dead Alive' (or vice versa, whichever version came out first), right?
I think it was the american version the was called Dead Alice but cheers for pointing that out.

Does Requiem for a Dream count as a cult film?
Yes Requiem for a Dream is cult and yes it is fucking awesome. Makes me feel so odd as the credits roll though...

YES. Many people shun Clerks 2 but I thought it was almost to the same standard as the first one. The argument about what's the betetr trilogy, Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, is incredible.

OT: Oldboy and Lady Vengeance. Not so much Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, but I really need to give it another go...

"Well you see I learned at Bible camp, God created man, and man created Transformers, so Transformers are a gift from God." One of my favorite lines from the movie.

Damn Straight. One of the best films to come out of 2009. The director also worked on Source Code, but I think this film is far better. One of the few DVD purchases I do not regret.

Almost every movie that does something a little bit odd is considered a cultmovie these days, so I wouldn't know what exactly constitutes as one.

Eraserhead might fit the bill.

I just love seeing this picture re-quoted again and again.

Also fantastic movie. Must see.
Ninja'd massively. Also ninja'd on:-

The Big Lebowski
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Starship Troopers
The Crow
Evil Dead Trilogy (especially 3. My GOD.)
Serenity

Bringing something new to the table- a french Stalk-n-slash film called Switchblade Romance. Completely proved me wrong when I said that the genre had been wrung out of ideas.

Oh, great question:

David Lynch made some great and very unusual movies. I'm not only talking about Eraserhead, which was, to be honest, kind of a clusterfuck. But you should totally watch Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway und Blue Velvet.

Then there's Alejandro Jodorowsky. Someone already recommended El Topo but his next movie, The Holy Mountain, is even better. He made some amazing surrealistic movies full of religious and occult symbolism, violence and even humor.

I'd also mention former Monty Python member Terry Gilliam. You may have heard of his dystopian movie Brazil but he made a lot of very amusing and very strange films. Fear and Loathing Las Vegas, if not as good as the book it's based on, is an excellent adaption of Hunter S. Thompsons novel. But you should also watch The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, a relatively recent movie (2009, i think), featuring Heath Ledger in his last role. It has some amazing visuals.

Some of David Cronenburgs movies are also highly recommendable. The Fly is a horror classic and so is Videodrome. EXistenZ is a very interesting movie, dealing with a subject, that should be very familiar to all of as: gaming. Naked Lunch, an adaption of one of the most important works of beat literature ist pretty much a perfect example for filming the unfilmable and even more fascinatinf if you've actually read the book and know about the author.

Stanley Kubrick was one hell of an excellent director and made some of my favourite movies of all time. A Clockwork Orange is a biting satire on issues like teenage violence and free will, Doctor Strangelove is a pitch black comedy about the beginning of a nuclear war, Eyes wide shut is an amazing thriller about Sex and relationships.

Orson Welles, the guy who directed Citizen Kane, which is widely considered to be one of the best or at least one of the most important movies of all time also did an adaption of Kafkas "The Trial" which is simply excellent and inspired the setdesign of other great cult movies like Eraserhead or Brazil.

Then there's that really nice japanese comedy called "Kamikaze Girls" with probably the wackiest humor you could imagine and a lot of loveable japanese weirdness. It's kinda childish and very girly but... well, this is a forum that loves My Little Pony, right?

And if you haven't seen Scott Pilgrim versus the world already... well, you totally should. It's one of my favourites.

Boondock....Saints. Best action movie I have ever seen.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. (Atleast, I think it's cult.)

It's perfect if you have read the comics. If not, it's still a perfect gamer flick.
Nah, that movie was quite popular almost everywhere.

Also, I am a massive fan of the comics, and found Scott (I.E. Michael Cera but called a different name) was no where near as awesome as the one in the comics. His random, quirky lines should have been much more exaggerated than what Cera does to them.

The Big Lebowski.

You cant deny its cult.
Many people call it highly overrated in american culture.
I would be one of them :p

I have watched it as well as many other cult films and big lebowski is... okay

SmashLovesTitanQuest said:
No, seriously. Its cult. It has a cult following and all that jazz. Also, american culture? I was always under the impression it was a lot more popular in regions that tended to hate America, and the Coen brothers did include some under-the-belt-line jabs at their home country. But hell, who am I to judge.
I didn't deny it was a cult film, but from my knowledge Americans have a larger appreciation for it compared to ever where else.

Always liked dead by dawn more as it had that perfect balance between horror and mad humor.
