I find it moronic that there have been suicides caused by cyber bullying..

If it were happenning to me, it would probably go something like this:

Idiot: Yeah, Im gonna come round and kill you. You pathetic scum!

Again, it seems to have been ignored that it's not just a case of ignoring what's sent to you online, the last case I read about was a campaign set up on facebook, full of lies about things she had done and said, purely to encourage people at the girl's school to hate her and make her life hell.

Now unless she can hack everyone's computer and block their access to facebook, then just hitting 'block' isn't going to help.

So many people here don't seem to see the difference.

If you can't handle it, and burst into tears when someone replies with 'you're a fucking tard, you fag, die in a fire', then sure, grow a pair (and set em on ignore).

If however, a group of kids at your school are using the internet to make both your online and offline life hell and using propoganda to ruin your life, that's cyber bullying. In fact it's not, just straight up bullying, and it's unfortunate it's been renamed by the media in such a stupid way that it's lost the power of the world 'bullying'.

Honestly... that is like crying rape on the internet. It is the bloody internet, it isn't as if your bound to your chair and forced to ensure 'being bullied.' You can turn it off, click the little X button and walk away from it all or, if you're doing something online, just ignore the messages completely and continue playing your game.

Deleting the messages from your in box without even opening them, for example, is a good place to start.

um... I've been insulted, and it hurt (yeah yeah, grow a pair, etc.), but that's what a blacklist is for.

Agreed. If your being assaulted off-line then you have a problem and really need to report it. Yes that is what most bully actually is, the legal definition is assault and you SHOULD file a police report because of that. If you are being threatened in real life you are being assaulted and should take appropriate legal measures. Your age doesn't matter, their age doesn't matter and the assault is only 'minor' doesn't matter: File the police report.

back in year 9 we had a big assembley on cyber bullying...had never even heard of it before...none of us had

i looked at my mobile after and found about 50 tasteless texts, oh and trust me the stuff on my email was much, much worse........
