Borderlands, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, and to a very slight extent... fallout 3.

I wouldn't say any of them are outright BAD, but they have problems, Borderlands needs to be more focused on its story and have less sand monsters. I would have liked GRAW about 6 years ago, but the used copy was not worth 29.95. And for all the hype, fallout 3 was one of the least immersive games I've ever played.

Loved that game but man that game could use a better story, graphics and characters. So a total revamp. :p

Uhhhh... Scribblenauts? Great idea and all but really, really SHIT controls. Laughably shit. It made you revert back to the ol' rope and heli to finish every mission practically. Also, CoD: BlOps for the PC. I heard the PS3 was doing bad, so their CoD:BlOps version as well.

Sonic 06 - I swear the planning for that game was taking a bunch of random and different ideas, putting them into a hat, and then using the whole hat for the game.

Alpha Protocol.

Why was the gameplay so terrible, Obsidian? Why? Couldn't you just have ripped off Mass Effect or any given James Bond game and be happy?

If Alpha Protocol's gameplay would've been as good as that of ME2, I would've had a different GotY this year.

Alas.

ME:2 was a shooter. Alpha Protocol was a Stealth/Action-RPG. The two are not compatible.
Alpha Protocol needed to be more like Classic Splintercell, a greater emphasis on stealth and far, far, far less emphasis on shoot outs.

I played AP as a shooter.

So, yeah. It can be a shooter, in fact, most both battles kind of assume it is.

Bionic commando, the 3d remake, great ideas, bad execution. or just remake spiderman 2, as much as i hate remakes, spiderman 2 is a one off, the single one game i would love to play again with a tech upgrade and available on Xbla / PSN so i can switch to it when im board without changing disks, that! THAT i would buy! ... What was i talking about?

Really the only one that comes to mind is Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines. A wonderful setting and story, ruined by the engine. I still managed to play it through twice, but I would pay full price if the game would be redone with a new engine.

Aion, so much wasted potential.

If they had more quests, a proper open world and some end-game PvE content the game would have been so much more successful but instead they went half assed at about level 30+ and the game ultimately failed because of it. (It still has a userbase, yes, but nothing like the one they could have had)

I'm going to go back in time, back to the NES-era.
I remember having tried to play Street Fighter 2010 and being frustrated to no end.
The controls and the graphics were really a high point for the system in general, but the enemy AI, level design, and overall difficulty was quite the opposite from the superb controls and graphics.
Why, Capcom? this could have possibly been the best NES game in its category, but you had to fuck it up. I just don't understand it.

Dragon Age and Oblivion.

So much wasted potential in them, they could easily have been great but unstead they're just mediocre.

If you played it as a shooter, then you were playing it wrong.

Prototype I wished it had the polish of a exclusive like Infamous oh well at least the sequel might change all of that.

Sonic Unleashed. So many good ideas. Too many fuck ups.

I liked some of the ideas. But it is still the worst game I have ever touched.
All they had to do is release the daytime stages as PSN or XBLA downloads and I would of loved sonic again

IMO, Arcanum is the king of this sort of thing. An amazing setting and world, amazing character creation and levelling system, great writing, open ended quests and lots of freedom. But then halfway through it turns into a linear series of dungeons, and the combat is horrendously bad and unbalanced.

If they left out real time combat, used a turn based system much more similar to fallout's, fixed up the balance and ai a bit, added more side quests and larger areas and improved the writing in the later stages, it would probably be the best rpg ever. As it is I still love it, but I can only stand to play it infequently because of the combat
