Damn it Hollywood, why won't you do what I want you to do?

I'm sure many of you have been watching a movie or a TV show and found yourself thinking, "I could do better than that" or "I really wish they would have done this". Today, I was watching Skyfall and at the end, there was the big shootout and such at Bond's family home. Of course this is all well and good, except for the fact that this is supposed to be a prequel, and yet they are using much more sophisticated technology that they were in the original films. This whole clusterfuck of continuity could have been avoided had they just made James Bond be the name given to the agent who carries the title of 007 (or just made it using period cars and weapons and such). But now, instead we are subjugated to a future that is in the past.

Maybe I'm just a sad angry nerd who needs to accept its just a movie and relax, but I'm willing to bet that a good portion of you guys (and gals) have experienced something similar.

Also, this could apply to books as well, maybe you felt the author should have gone a different way at some point.

My biggest gripe is horror movies. They can have really interesting ideas and plots, but the characters I am supposed to cheer for are always bumbling idiots. Things like chasing a very loud and threatening noise and walking past a room full of people who just committed suicide with shotguns and pistols WITHOUT PICKING ONE UP or saying "Holy fuck I should just leave". I'm looking at you VHS2.

Daniel Graig's Bond movies are not suppose to be a prequel, they were always meant to be a reboot.

And something I felt this way was the Tv series Continuum, they had some mad chances of making a awesome time travel sci fi show, but for the most part is just your extremely cliched action tv series, and yet every once is a while there's that awesome spark of creativity in it, but it fades really fast under all the terrible writing.

I guess you're right, I had always thought it was meant as a prequel (Though I still think my way(I'm obviously not the only one to have thought about this, as its a pretty popular theory) is better than just scrapping 40 years of movies). In that case they shouldn't have brought back Dench as M. Its little things like that that drive me crazy. If M is Dench in the original series, she shouldn't be M in the reboot, as that just confuses everything. Nothing against Dame Dench, she is a fine actress, but I don't think they should have put her in the reboot, or even bothered rebooting it in the first place vs just continuing the story.

Since when?
Casino Royale was a prequel, Skyfall is just another Bond story.
I would even put it after the original movies because of a few things:
1. The whole "Bond is getting old" thing.
2. MI6 isn't using fancy Bond-like gadgets anymore.
3. Q gets replaced with a young "tech guy".
4.
M dies

It's pretty much impossible to have continuity problems with the Bond films. I'm one of its biggest fans but you have to overlook the fact they all stand, pretty much, as one-offs.

Otherwise, how would you explain where all those Bond girls every time? Let's face it, they always seem pretty in love with him.

Really we should just take Bond for what he is: a hell of a good character who has made millions of blokes dream of becoming a spy for generations.
