Dark Cloud was awesome, though I got to the end and was never able to beat the boss. I think I spent too much time Upgrading Toan and nobody else. =P

I didn't get very far in Dark Cloud 2, but I'll have to agree with you on that. They really did improve everything, in my opinion.
I really only upgraded Toan and Ruby as those were the only ones that needed upgrading to beat the game.

Never played the original but I loved the hell out of the second one. Except for that golf mini game thing(don't remember the name} those always pissed me off to no end.
It was called Spheda, it was a good minigame once you got the hang of it, that said on certain areas (SEWERS!) it was infuriatingly difficult at times.

Wow, I had never heard of this game. After reading about it on Wiki, it sounds AMAZING. I'm going to check it out some more.

Cheers for this thread :)
If you can I'd STRONGLY recommend getting Dark Cloud 2 (Chronicle if you live in Europe) the story is really good, the music is amazing and it is overall a better game, if you are interested in the series go for 2, you wont regret it (and if you are wondering the two games are not a connected story so you are not missing anything by going right to the sequel except for one or two references)

I played Dark Cloud and didn't like it at all. The sequel, however, I thought was very impressive. I never beat it, I got bored with the gameplay after 40 hrs or so, but I was very impressed. I think I own it somewhere...

Loved the First one if nothing else just for the HOURS you would have to spend in each dungeon rationing food and water for the levels and basically having to survive down there since trips to the surface were infrequent (for me at least).

The second one I had to get to the final level twice thanks to save corruption. It was a great game but I was never able to keep the girl on power with the guy (never got the right weapon recipes) so I can't beat the final boss. I liked 1's characters and locals better but 2 had the better game play and combat system.

Dark Cloud 1 was okay but not good enough for me to really bother playing much of it.

Dark Cloud 2 is still one of the best games I've ever played.

I had it on a demo, and i loved it, but I couldn't find a copy of the game :(. It dosen't help with zones wich makes it impossible to buy it online.

Dark Cloud was a great game and I had many great hours with it. The opening sequence (the book coupled with the music) really captivated me. It's still on my shelf and I even have some of the music on my laptop!

So its one of those rare games who actually did improve upon the sequal :D?

Sadly I never played dark cloud 2.

Im going to try picking it up some time.

I loved Dark Cloud but even more so Dark Cloud 2 (Dark Chronicle in other parts of the world)

Dark Cloud 2 perfected all the elements from dark cloud 1 and added in some of its own, and perfected them, there was nothing dark cloud 2 did wrong.

I've fond memories of them both.
Although i agree with you, theres one thing that was wrong, the voice acting and the writing, it didnt come out right with the translations.

Also why can you have your dad with you but he NEVER TELLS YOU ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR MOM.

Also Max talks to himself an awful lot and during the beggining he seems crazy. At the start of like every dungeon he talks about his mom.

Max: (escapes from the burning building and looks over it) This house is ON FIRE!

I own both DC 1 and 2.

1 has more characters, while 2 has more activities. I love 1 for it's more involving sim setup on the towns. It was far more interesting to get the buildings in a productive order for the people. 2 threw simming out the door (you could do it, but the list of people to plant and what they liked/disliked became too complicated) and instead focused more intensively on the minigames. I loved 2 because it gave you more to do. Take pictures, make weapons, race, play golf, even fishing was awesome.

Worst thing about the series? The last dungeons. Specially on 1. That 100 something floor dungeon made me bang my head on the wall to break the repetitiveness of it.

oO The mom was a huge plot point that they bring up towards the end, isn't it?

I absolutely loved the games. Dark Cloud was one of the first games I played on ps2. It's probably what solidified my interest in video games.

Now I want to go on a hunt for Dark Cloud 2. I own the first one, but now I have a burning desire to get #2 and play through it.

I've heard about that game.

Apparently it's similar to the Zelda series.

Thinking of checking it out, been looking for a nice epic adventure game recently.

I was very fond of that game.
The art and music were great,I really liked the weapon system too.
I never got to finish it sadly due to lack of free time.

I played the demo of it on a demo disc we had years ago and remembered it last year so I went out and bought a copy on eBay. I have yet to get around to playing it. But, I have a lot of spare time now so I'll probably play it soon.

EDIT: Purchased Dark Cloud 2 and Rogue Galaxy off of eBay the other week. Looking forward to playing them as well.
